We had one club member who towed with a series 100 on gas. On a trip he had to fill up more often but actually spent less on purchasing fuel than the diesel tugs.

They will also use around 25-30 ltrs per 100.
restricting travel distances between servo's
which are also, pretty well restricted to main highways
and NOT all of them either.
You sticking to main H.Ways. Probably ok.
Any exploring. Be careful or carry plenty of petrol.
and there are NO real differences between fuel costs/Maint on Petrol or diesel
Plus diesel WILL give more mileage betwen tank fills.
Hi snap. We did approx. 18000k's around Aus, around 4000k's of dirt roads, as far up as Cooktown, The Savannah Way and as close to the coast as we could. Drove a 91 Patrol on LPG
(100LT. ), petrol ( 80lt. ), 4 jerry cans ( 80lts. sometimes filled ) and 20lt two stroke ( for tinny ). Fuel consumption was around 400kms to a tank of LPG and approx. 300 kms. to the tank of petrol. The Patrol was loaded to the hilt and we towed a hard floor camper also fully loaded, fitted with 2 large water tanks, with tinny, motor and everything for extended free camping. We were able to fill with LPG at many places, always used the gas first but also needed to fill twice by jerry cans.
We used the internet to find the LPG outlets, although you can't always depend on this. In one case the LPG pump was down and we were told they had been waiting for a number of months for it to be fixed. Another time, the roadhouse was closed and the third time, running on petrol we just didn't see the sign for the station so came to a stop in the middle of nowhere but were able to fill from the jerry cans. We found everything went okay but I wouldn't do it without spare fuel.
