Thank god your not working on my car if you lubricate Conrod studs And main bearing cap studs, of course bearing journals need to be lubricated And the bore needs to be lubricated, cylinder bores and crankshaft journals are not threads geese!!!!!

You put oil on bearing cap studs and main bearing studs in race engines well now I have heard everything
Any engine nuts I've always used Loctite. inside. NeverSeize (american) outside.
Tighten all wheel nuts till the crack (steel ones.
and say a prayer everytime you start a wheel turning.
(Only Joking)
Race engines its done using stretch method.. Besides the likes of ARP supply and stipulate methods..
This is WAY different to wheel nuts etc.. Most old codgers have trouble changing wheels let alone tightening them..
Well to the point of being too tight .. Best to use a geni, long 10 amp extension cord, compressor. rattle gun to upset EVERYONE ... Did I miss any narks ?? Lol...
The Conrod nuts are not greased if anything is put on the threads it would be lock tight, to lubricate something as vital as Conrod nuts and main bearing cap studs would be insane..

I beg to differ, rebuilt a lot of engines in my time and copious amounts of oil is used on all threads and in the bore on all journals etc
cheers

I agree.
A very interesting comparison too...
Kezngaz.
Me too rebuilt a few old straight six holdens in my younger days and tractor engines
