Hi everyone...

Another newbie couple here. Well, almost. Back when, we lived for 10 years in an on-site van in a great caravan park in Mandurah WA. Sadly like many big town parks, it was given over to housing development and is no more. We loved the lifestyle.. no gardening or big house maintenance,  just incredible amounts of fishing punctuated with a bit of our earlier love, motorcycling. We didn't actually take our caravan anywhere. So our planned future trip in our Coromal pop-top will be our first experience on the move. We've towed quite a few boats long distances over the years so it won't be all culture shock.

I've already found this great site is full of useful info and tips so it's bound to be something of a bible for us, especially as we are in the grey nomad age-group too. Thanks for being here to help tyros like us get going.

Welcome to the gang JocknNik, enjoy here and out in the playground.

My late wife and I had a on-site van in Kilcunda, south VIC, sold that an got another one in Yarram, east Gippsland VIC. Loved both but 12 months before I lost her we sold the Yarram one too. Great holiday like those days.

I go fishing a lot since I retired....the local fresh fish shop wherever I am gets a workout.

Keep Safe on the roads and oit there.

Thanks kindly everyone! I'll definitely go and check out that fishing thread. It's been such a large part of my life so wouldn't miss it for quids! Doesn't matter how 'expert' it is. Always great to just chew the bone on fishing.

Doug, sorry to read about your loss. If I fear anything in life, it's that. After being together most of our lives, it'd be a terrible shock. Yes, caravan living certainly had its attractions. We had two kids too and they seemed to have enjoyed it. So different. My daughter has been known to refer to her parents as 'bohemian'

Welcome JocnNic,

We also only recently joined this site and having now retired are about to join the people enjoying what this great country has t offer. We lived in Dampier for a few years back in the early 80s and really got into the fishing while we were there. One of our favourite spots was Point Sampson, when we arrived in 1979 they had a couple of tables at at the back of the fisherman's co op where you could get a great seafood meal. This got so popular they actually built a brick 2 storey restaurant on the beach next door to it called Moby's - I have no idea if it's still there but I am hoping that one day we will find out. By the way when we got back to NSW we lost all interest in fishing as it just wasn't the same (not enough fish).
