Moonta S.A. new overnight camp.

A new campsite has been made available for fully self contained R.V's very close to the Moonta town centre.

Max stay two nights.

Voluntary donation.

Nice shaded area among trees.

About 5 min walk to town centre and shopping.

Dump point available about 500 meters down Blyth Terrace.

Located at intersection of Blyth Terrace and Ellen Street, easy to find and access.

Here's a link to a town map. http://www.coppercoast.sa.gov.au/webdata/resources/files/CK178M.pdf

Moonta is a great little town, lots of interest, good base to explore the Copper Triangle from.smile

Nice town Moonta - we are heading west via the Yorke Peninsula later in the year, will have a look, and probably stay. Thanks Santa.

Thanks for that info Santa

There is a topic saying that there is no free camping on the York Peninsula
I class a donation site such as Moonta, as a free site (even though I always donate), as I appreciate the locals enticing us travelers to visit them

Moonta is about 5km from the beach Tony/Bev, the sites referred to in my other post are beach front.

Moonta town site would be a good base to explore from, or, to stock up on supplies, do a bit of shopping, investigate mining heritage etc.

No facilities on the site, plenty of shade, dump point just down the road.smile

There are a couple of photos ans a street views of Blyth Street on this map. Mostly good comments on WikiCamps (only 3 detractors.)

Hmmmm, see someone had a whinge about it being surrounded by roads, true, however it is quite a large area and the roads are only lightly used.

to correct my earlier statement, apparently there is water available, pets are OK.

Not sure there is much to complain about when it's a shady free camp close to the town centre, some people are never happy.no

I hope that those that do use it see fit to make a small donation.

The Copper Coast is a lovely spot to visit.

Santa, can you use generators there?

If you do use a generator there I would suggest you don't do it near any of the housing across the road. Any undue noise would be fodder for the locals to have the site closed down.

Drove past yesterday afternoon, 8 vehicles camped there, an assortment of caravans, campers and a motor home, most I've seen.
