Welcome to the gang Letstravel, enjoy here and out in the playground.

To "Correspond" and after you have logged in, click on the person's name in their AV and just send them a PM (Private Message). Only you and that person can see it so no need to worry about privacy.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Hello Letstravel

Disclaimer
I am a happy married man of nearly 49 years, as the wife does not like travelling, I do many solo trips, and therefore know some of the trial and tribulations of solo travelling

Firstly and most important, as Dougwe has already said welcome to the forum

Just follow Dougwe advice, to talk privately to other solo travellers

Hi Helen, You are welcome to msg but I live in WA so lots of things might not apply. (I've just recently been on my first 6 weeks trip and can't wait for the next one.)

Welcome to the forum Letstravel.
Doug has given good advice for here.
May I suggest if you are on facebook there is a group called Rolling Solo Australia. This might suit you as well.

And welcome from another solo traveller, Helen. There are lots of solos here, and a huge collective knowledge base, so don't be afraid to ask any questions - just pick the most appropriate section and ask away.

Happy and safe travels
Joe

Hi and welcome,
I'm a solo traveller...not really new though. Setting off today after a month park up though - that feels new after all this time šš¾.

Happy to answer any questions you have.

Me as well. Getting ready to go on road bet feel I would be more secure if I knew other solo males. Don't want to go off road. I am interested in quiet times, BBQ s etc and lazy times.

Just a dumb question, have you had problems launching? I've been on two trips, one I wanted to and a short one I was forced to do! I want to launch but am tied to getting rid of all the stuff. So give me a hint please. Probably procrastination and expecting people to buy dust gatherers worth money 20 years has something to do with it.

Intetesting you should say that Lancelot as my son is going through the same thing.
He has sold his house in Geelong, settlent 15th Feb.
In the meantime he has a lot of gear to get rid of. He's getting plenty of encouragement from me with regular contact and gentle pushes.
I will head down there next Thursday to give some giant shoves. Initially he will be following me as I show him some of my favourites.
As he is only 47 he will need to find work occasionally to keep the funds topped up so he doesn't dip into his nest egg.
It is hard when you make that decision to pack up and go knowing you won't come back to the same spot again.
He has a beautiful cat he needs to find a home for, I think that is harder than any solid possessions.
Some homewares he's put out on the front lawn and it's gone within 24 hrs.
Other stuff, mates have been around and sorted through it and helped clean the shed out of mainly car, mechanical and the like.
Some times you need that extra push from family and friends so you don't procrastinate too long.

I've just crossed the border, currently in Berri (Martin's Bend campground) and still planning to be in Rapid Bay on the 20th.
