Grain Harvest - CBH in WA, Viterra in SA, Graincorp in Qld & NSW. Google them all, find out when they are taking applications. We have done a couple of seasons, and will do so again.

Just be aware you can only earn $164 a fortnight or the government will get theire teeth into you.
So much for encouraging you to work. I have the operturnity to work part time but the small an=mount of money does put a break on it as who wants to employ someone for two days a fortnight.
There is a lot of voluntary work and often there is free camping and sometime free food and a full fuel tank when leaving.

I am looking into paid work as I am too young to retire as yet. Was not thinking of Centrelink as I do not think they would assist if you leave your job voluntarily. Was thinking of using my savings sparingly until the age of retirement and working here and there along the way, as long as it helps pay for running costs and the like. Can't live forever, may as well let your money run out along the way.

Fruit picking works well. You're going to a job. You're working that job. When the season finishes you're put off ie you haven't left voluntarily. Straight onto Centrelink. The town has gone from a place of high employment to a place of low employment ie you can go anywhere. :)
If you travel in northern Australia in the tourist season (winter), the more remote tourist operations and roadhouses are often looking for staff. Sometimes even supermarkets. Some of the more remote places offer accommodation and keep as part of the package.
If you can do the short certification courses in Food Handling and Responsible Service of Alcohol it could help.
I've picked up short order cooking work with absolutely no industry experience - just normal home cooking background.
Around this time of the year, the mango harvest kicks in around Darwin - can often pick up work packing, It is a lot easier than picking! Then a bit later the Qld mango season starts Cairns to south of Townsville and runs till Xmas or after.
You sound similar to me. I'm just living off savings at present. I wouldn't be able to handle telling Centrelink everything about me - never could - even when I had kids etc.
In darwin though...I ended up with essentially two jobs (when I didn't want any) because it's hard to get good help up there lol. So there's plenty of work if you want it. I don't really want it to be honest (well....haven't been 100% well either really). I probably would take something remote and temporary if it helped someone out and it fell at my feet, but that's the extent of my interest in it. I'd rather continue living extrodinarily cheaply and enjoy my life. I was starting to get a bit worried with the way my health was declining....but I think I may be on top of that now (no thanks to 30 odd years of idiot doctors that don't know what they're talking about). If I'm so inclined to have to be near a town, I house sit - just finished one. Looking forward to getting back to my normal life today. š
