Look good now what did you screw into and how did you find a place for the fixing , I always worry about what is hidden behind the sheeting

The table as originally set up in our Jayco was so high that it was uncomfortable to eat from the table. I cut the centre leg down by 50 mm and that made it better. It was still ultra tight to get in and out from the table, so I relocated the table top relative to the leg - offset by about 50 mm one way and 30 mm the other. Still not good enough, so we now unbolt the table base from the floor. Now, we move the table as required. All good until we forget to bolt the base down before moving.....

Hi brickies the top two screws of the bracket are in the bottom timber frame of the window and these take the weight, the bottom screw is just in the panel. No wires or pipes running through that side of the van from what I could trace. If need be I could screw through the top of the table into the window frame as well but rather not at this point.

We just have to keep in mind that it is not to be used to full support our weight. Main thing is to have it down so we have a bit of romm just for sitting and reading. Cheers

when we unscrewed the table in our Jayco we used to padlock the eyebolt to the hitch using the padlock I used for the lift catch,always had lift catch padlocked on or off car just for peace of mind

Great looking job CC Bear,

Very simple solution that should make for more comfort.

Ours is a different type of table/seats, but we have had a similar problem in the last couple of vans that we have had with the L shaped lounge type - I couldn't fit comfortably on the seat at the table.

What I got for the new van (part of the deal) was a swing away table bracket which fits to the top of the existing leg and allows the table to swing around out of the way. During the day it sits partially above the long bench and can swing away to allow the big one (me) to fit at the table on the seating.

Very convenient. There are a couple of different ones, but here's a link to the bracket -for anyone who may be interested.

Great solution and well thought out! Love the ledge for wine glasses. (Do love my Barossa Shiraz).

Does not solve my tight problem with L-shaped seating even with swing away table bracket as "Peter and JudyH" have.

Always looking for new ideas.

Thanks every one for your positive comments, had the mate come up and help me remove the old table support plate. Now just need to scrub the floor and fill in the holes. Cheers

I took the fixed tables out of my vans first thing.
Use a Coleman folding.free standing table in it's place.
Gives a LOT of extra room in table area. Moveable and removable to suit.
Plus we still have full size folder outside for meals.cards.visitors etc.

Also the Coleman came with 2 full size chairs, sans backs.
Make great stools and for visitors bums
But uncomfortable enuff they won't stay long (chuckle)
Friends bring their own.
