An back operation in Asia !?

Sciatic nerve, lower back.

It happend a few years ago, and every doctor, physio and witch doctor I have been to, and there has been a several dozen,

told me that there was nothing they could do!!??

Finally I go and get an MRI, and am told that there's a problem. The surgeon said that they will have to do some work on my lower back.

That's OK, but here in WA, apparently, the waitng list can be very long. Now, I'm not trying to jump the queue, but as there

may be another 24 months to wait, I just need to know if anyone has ventured overseas for such an operation. I am paying top

dollar to Medibank, and fully realise that there are people out there with worse problems thatI have.

Have to say that the amount of pain killers I take daily is enough to make me rattle when I walk.

Thanks.

Pipes.

Hi there. If you have full private health as you indicated I would have thought you would get an operation fairly quickly. If not able to in W. A. why not try interstate rather than overseas. At least you would have the bills paid by your insurer who I guess would not pay for health outside Australia. Besides I would be very nervous being operated on by someone in an Asian country. Cheers Daz

That is not the case in Queensland if you have medibank private it would be done in a flash , Maybe you should talk to medibank private they also have preferred doctor they may be able to recommend .

Thanks for all the information and ideas.
Problem is, the accident that caused all the problems happened before I knew anything about hospital benefits.
I know it sounds bloody silly, but a lifetime of work, and no hospital visits, I just didn't think about it.
No worries.
