Flashing stop lights

We have a new Fortitude caravan (made by Safari), with led tail lights. When I am stopped and I apply the brakes the stop lights on the caravan remain steadily lit. However when I am moving and I apply the brakes the stop lights flash On and off at a steady rate (similar to indicators).

Can anyone tell me whether this normal behaviour for the lights?  I am towing with a 2016 Ford Wildtrack and I have a Tekonsha P3 brake controller fitted.

Thank you.

Welcome to the gang Gavinwr27, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I had a similar problem with Collie, all van lights blinked when mobile. When I had the Collie serviced at Holden in Townsville while there during winter they say on the paperwork,

"Configured trailer interface moudle with update for trailers/caravans with LED lights" No problems since. I think "moudle" should be module :) their typo.

Keep safe on the roads and out there.

As Dougwe said , the Ranger electrics need a tickle up to match the LED lighting. Would have thought the manufacturers would have got this right by now, without the Customer having to chase up the Dealers, and there's nothing to stop the dDealers from including it in the Pre delivery service, they charge enough for it.!!.

Regards,

The issue is the Ford electrics is having difficulty with the LED lights. You need a load simulator wired into the trailer/van light wiring. This is basically a box full of resistors and helps simulate the load a bulb would create. Stops the flashing/pulsing. If it is just your stop lights, then you can purchase a single resistor and insert it into the Brown wire either before or after the van/ford connection.

My system uses change over relays on the stop, and indicator circuits. I can hang anything on the back of my vehicle and the lights will be uneffected.

Welcome Gavin, as ^^^^^^^^^^^ we have all LED external lighting on our van as well. When I bought my Ranger the dealer gave me a dongle with the resistors to stop the flashing (kudos to the dealer) never a problem.

Enjoy our great lifestyle
