very happy today finally fitted new tank hot water system. Got rid of the instant gas system junk . The new ones 20 ltr gas electric took 30 mins to heat fully of the batteries . It's just nice to have a shower and get a constant flow of good temperature water . Might even put the shower water save in and the inline water save in tomorrow the inline one dosnt waste 5Lts water waitting for the hot water to come through . took al that stuff of trying to get the other junk working rite . It got hot yea but when you adjusted it to suit it would go cold get to hot . Now the wife's happy to . And it's free to heat of the sun.

Hi Mr Glassies.
Would you like to share the name of the system that you have used please. Sounds impressive, though your batteries 30 minutes to heat the water up.
Is that though your inverter and how big a inverter?
At the weekend we used our second hand new caravan with en suite bathroom, it was really beaut having the hot water, showery worked a treat and the washing up was so easy.
After sixty years of rough camping. I don't think I can go back to a tent.
Did you do it yourself, Dibs and did the new one fit in the same opening?? Was it costly?
I have the instant one too and find it ok on mains pressure but not when used with the van pump.
I have spoken to a supplier in Melbourne and what they said didn't work so have been thinking of changing it over.
Yea Doug it went in the same hole but there are different size openings . I couldn't get a reply back from them changed the pump Melb recon 11 lts min. USA say 7 . So I bought a 7 Still crap $800 old from sunny coast it's a surburban . . Sparky fitted a lead I'm getting a new gas pipe tomorrow .

Radar it's a suburban catch is the opening size and read what it is as there is different size openings and there is gas/electric I know people who bought one and disappointed it was only 240 .
Through an inverter 6000/3000 smart charger inverter and 400 amp batteries charged from 11oo watt solar .
I have a "hottap" now. and it gives instant, and whatever temp you want up to where you can't hold hand under flow.
Full size water pump is the key, plus mains of course.
Those 4 /7 lpm's are useless.
Actually a lot of camping parks are using this one. and I know a few in units/homes too.
Nobody I know has a problem so far....and a little 4.5kg bottle lasts a while with 2.
Was going to couple into van main bottles with T Piece but decided against. ($370 from memory)
ANYBODY???????.......
Only thing to remember. Is keep it covered in the rain.
mr glassies,i had the same problem,it was either scalding hot or freezing cold, pulled it out and replaced it with a suburban, fitted straight in the hole left by the girrard hws, best thing ever constant temp hot water.regards ray
Yea we had a similar one on the kitchen and ensuite at one of our house m8s for it now I think it's about 10 yrs old and we have one on the pop top . The one we had in the van was spasificly for a van and have had heaps of people complain about them .
Fair enuff.
But there are a few around.
Mine is perfect. I have to run it cooler as do several others I know with them.
We ARE in Qld though. NO cold weather, so I couldn't say about down South.
I've got a small diesel engine Heat Exchanger from Yacht motor.
Forgot i could have used that.
New, kept as a spare when cruising.
Hmmm. May play around with it.
I have a Truma with a supposed unleakable stainless tank, but it is leaking and I was looking at fitting a gas hot water on demand system in its place.
Consider your self warned digging there not what they say . Unless it's a camping one as they call it . There noisy don't stay hot temp goes up and down . I recon they would use more combined power in 12 volt and gas than a tank unite . I even had the gas flow tested thinking there was a problem there I changed the water pump took of the temprite from under the van and wouldn't work my inline water saver .
