May I be one of the first to welcome you to the forum, and I hope that you have a good trip, when you do your lap
I find that the Camps Australia Wide 8 book, (next version is due out 2017) around $50 odd dollars As well as WikiCamps Australia, (one off cost of less than $10) are invaluable when planning my trips
If you click on the General Forum and scroll down, you will see a section for Free/Budget campsites Suggested by our Contributors
Welcome to the gang OldManRiver, enjoy here and out in the playground.
When I first started out I had a Avan Sportliner and set it up for free/alternative camping but 2 years ago I decided to upgrade to what is in my signature when I went on the road full time. I too love camping but in my aluminium tent these days.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Yes Steve, I had great times and made great memories and friends while I had the 'Sportliner' but as you say, "it's a bit small" to live in full time. I also wanted my on-board toilet and shower. I am also fully "self-sustained".
