OldManRiver - He Just Keeps Rollin Along

Hi, I am Steve, my wife is Carmel, we are grey, however currently domiciled in Gerringong, south coast, NSW.

We are long term tent campers, but we are putting together the kit for the big lap next winter, so no tents.

To this end we have purchased a 2011 Mitsubishi Challenger LS manual, immaculate, with all the fruit, including set up for towing.

For accomodation we have acquired an Avan Cruiseliner 1D, also immaculate.

We are in the process setting it up for free camping, with enough portable solar power to supply the Dometic  rm 2350 fridge being the next priority.

We are doing the lap with our dog Bonnie (10yo BCx) so no National Parks, but any suggestions for free camping, pet friendly sites are most welcome.

Cheers

Steve

Hello OldManRiver

May I be one of the first to welcome you to the forum, and I hope that you have a good trip, when you do your lap

I find that the Camps Australia Wide 8 book, (next version is due out 2017) around $50 odd dollars
As well as WikiCamps Australia, (one off cost of less than $10) are invaluable when planning my trips

If you click on the General Forum and scroll down, you will see a section for
Free/Budget campsites Suggested by our Contributors

Hope this info is useful to you

Welcome to the gang OldManRiver, enjoy here and out in the playground.

When I first started out I had a Avan Sportliner and set it up for free/alternative camping but 2 years ago I decided to upgrade to what is in my signature when I went on the road full time. I too love camping but in my aluminium tent these days.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Thanks Tony for the resources.

Hey Doug. Did you enjoy your Sportliner - bit small for me.
Whereas your arrow would be a bit big for me.

We like to keep the package as small as possible (within reason).

BTW by free camping I mean "self-sustained", not necessarily cheapskate.

Yes Steve, I had great times and made great memories and friends while I had the 'Sportliner' but as you say, "it's a bit small" to live in full time. I also wanted my on-board toilet and shower. I am also fully "self-sustained".
