we have a 105 series (the 100 series with live axle), and had the same issue as yourself. We have had the rear springs changed to a medium rate spring, and the shockers changed to a heavy rated units. We also had the Air Bag Man helper air bags fitted for when loaded. Front springs were change to medium duty at same time.
Our van has an approx. ball weight when loaded of 290 kg, and I find that the way we have it now works well, with airbags at 25 psi loaded and 5 psi when unloaded. I did try heavy duty springs first up, but it gave a ride like a truck when unloaded, and the airbags were superfluous.
What it has done is lifted the vehicle. The heavy springs lifted it 4 inches, but reverting to the medium duty units has seen that go back to a 2 inch lift all round. We are happy with the ride now when loaded and when empty. The picture shows how high it sits now.
We do use a HR WDH unit when towing to level vehicle. I had the work done by a local 4x4 shop, who had also fitted the aftermarket turbo and our drawers and side steps. The side steps were necessary due to the rise in ride height. I am not a small fella, but I also need to use them to get in comfortably.
Hope this helps.

It may do Snap, but the bags we have are considered helper bags only, not full air suspension.
I feel confident that with the springs upgraded, we have a strong suspension for the bits of dirt work we do.
I know if a bag does go, the springs can carry the load ok without the help. The bags just make the ride a lot less undulating with the van on.
Perhaps find a fitter in your neck if the woods and just have a talk to them about using bags only. The springs could always be upgraded later if necessary.

Chaos, mayhem, confusion. Good my job here is done
We have a 100 series Landcruiser. We bought it with a 2 inch lift which included beefing up of the suspension and have also installed air bag man inside coils.Very happy with the set up great for towing our very heavy van ,although lashed out and bought a new 200 series today which will have the GVM upgrade and the 4 t tow PAC .
I guess what I am saying is make sure you are legal and safe.

If fitting\fitted any AIrbag aids.
have your chassis rails checked for maybe bracing.
The next veh that bends it's chassis with airbags fittted.
Will NOT be the first.
Toyota's are known for their rubbish suspension from factory.
I had several patrols. set up for towing.
Progressive rate, 300kg overweight ,2in lift coils.
with EFS 2in H\D SHockers.(next time I'd use 3in lift shocks.)
towed my 6.5mtr, 3ish ton van with waaay over 350kg towbar weight.
Rear suspensions set on vans, really overloads the drawbars.
That with the H\R 750, bar system. towed my van all over.
like a dream.
Complete control and stability in all conditions.
Just remember. if you use veh as "offroader" too.
Progressive rate coils NOT a good idea.
Tend to get too rolly in rocks, and steep angles.
Whoopsy... As one of my mates found.
There is a system on ebay for rear stabilty.
Torsion bar roll stability unit.
around $200ish and self fitment.
