Iveco Motorhome on the Daily Chassis

Just noticed a warning on the dash saying "water in fuel filter" when I started it up last week but it hasn't appeared since . Should I take it to a Iveco Dealer , not due for a service for a few months , still under warranty not that this would be covered if it is water .

cheers

I am not a mechanic

While the vehicle is under warranty, the manufactures do not like you playing around with it

But...

Water in the fuel filter (warning dash light on), is something you should look at, as water in the fuel pump, is a no, no, for any vehicle

If you are not confident to drain the water from the fuel filter yourself, then phone the manufacture and ask for advice

Please advise how you got on, as some of us may be thinking of purchasing that type of vehicle in the future

In the meantime, hopefully people with that type of vehicle will come forward, and advise if it had happened to them, and what the fix was

Thanks Tony,
I did have a look to see if I could do it , but not much room under the bonnet these days , couldn't find it . My concern was it hasn't come on again in about 20 starts. I will ring up Monday and see if they can have a look at it . Will post results.
cheers

If it was cold when you started up and noticed "water in fuel" then it is more likely to the fuel thickening with "waxing". This is why there is summer and winter fuel . Water in the fuel just adds resistance to fuel flow setting off pressure switch to activate light. If light goes off the it is not water.

I am not an expert but have learnt by experience the effects of summer fuel in winter, and water in fuel lights coming on for a few minutes.

In the end don't worry, because if all else failes just wait until the temperature warms up ,

Quick fix for that.

Come up here and live in Australia hey....

ALWAYS..... Warm here.

PS.

You want cold.

Look at my piccy.

Niagara Falls in 1911. Frozed Solid.

That's Cooooold. Then some.

I've been there in minus 25\27c and they  still running.

Brother lives 46 miles from them. And every visit.

"Come for a drive, see the Falls".   Grrrrr.    SHhhh

Zip it.. Keeps him happy.

You have picked up water in the fuel which has been caught and detected by the primary filter. Have the dealer replace the filter and fit a secondary filter. Water in fuel is not covered by warranty (understandably).

Went to Iveco yesterday , no water in fuel filter , couldn't tell me why it came on the once , and didn't charge me . Maybe they will when it goes in for the next service , they certainly don't miss you when it's due.
Cheers
