Hi Jenny & Barry,

More info needed.

1.Your Age plays a big part as to weather they will insure you in the first instance.

2. Do you have pre existing medical condition.

Australia passport holders have a reciprocal medicare with the UK, Italy, Canada, NZ, to start.

3. If you book a trip paying 50% Plus by Credit Cards, most banks, will give you Free cover up to. Read terms and Conditions..

As for claims. Many moons ago We were in NZ riding luge carts and broke my right thumb at the base.

fully covered, till we set foot on the plane home. Then we were on our own.

Public Liability insurance in NZ does not exist.

IF you were intending to go adventuring, Take out full insurance.

I have Stents, and have found NRMA Travel insurance will cover you, where others won't.

Hope this helps.

Jim

thanks Jim - our grand daughter is heading off next year. So many companies to choose from and am sure some will be better than others if/when a claim is made.

We go O\Seas most yrs for a coupla months.
After trying a few.
We stick with RACQ.
Not the cheapest. BUT. always cover you. and any payouts needed. Almost by return.
I left my camera in airport at Raleigh NC USA.
rang ins.
They said buy another to that value at next stop and we'll cover you.
Cancun. Mexico. money in account that week.
had a hiccup in later section of hol. My one lung wouldn't take Machu Pichu.
Mexico city on Plateau at 8500. MP another 4 thou plus.

$6.300 worth of the holiday out the window. Lima to M.P to Lima. tours and hotels.

RACQ covered it within a week of getting home.
First time we claimed.

Machu Pichu was to be highlight of trip. Madam wouldn't go without me..

Unfortunately...... Even after 8 days in Mexico City I couldn't breathe.

Plane took me to Lima. Doctors wouldn't let me on plane to M.Pichu

DO NOT let flight company's organise your flights and hotels.
First and last time we will.
They put us on three red eye flights and Di hadn't checked.

Mexico city to Lima.. Lima to Santiago.
Santiago to North Island NZ.

To and from Santiago interesting. 200 miles up in the mountains.
Flying mostly between the mountains. Below the peaks.
Got some Grrrrreat shots.

I'd recommend RACQ Not the cheapest BUT....
They DO cover....

Another time.
NZ again.
4 am early flight.
Black Tablet case, black trolley. pitch black sky.
pissin' rain. Howling wind. running late from car return.

Guess where Tablet is....
Again. They paid up within week or so

QBE were that good on the coupla claims I made with them in the '80's too.
Instant almost, and full no reduction on figures claimed..
