A month ago I had been working on the van rear view camera. I was buggered so decided to call it a day. Eril came home and mentioned that I had left my telescopic ladder perched up at the rear of the van.
Just after dark I remembered I had better get the ladder inside. I thought about a torch but decided against. I strode between the van and the fence and bang, down I go face planting the blue metal gravel. No smirking Dougwe I composed myself and felt liquid running down my face!! I had tripped on the van portable step that I knew was there!! Pushed the bridge of my specs into the bridge of my nose. Stumbled inside for some help from Eril. Gee it did bloody hurt!! I could not believe my luck that I had not broken anything other than my specs!!

Ausiie paul I know how you feel about 12 months ago after it was dark I decided I was going to take some recycling to the outside bin. To get there I had to cross a patio go down 6 concrete steps and across a concrete driveway carrying my load. I thought about turning on the outside light but decided it wasn't necessary as I done this trip a 100 times before, to make it worse the concrete patio and steps are charcoal in colour which makes it very difficult to see where the step begins. One minute I was walking along the next minute my foot was in mid air and I was falling luckily in a sideways direction. I landed face first in a garden bordering the steps at a level about hallway down if I had fallen directly forward I probably would have broken my stupid neck. Funny when something like that happens it all seems to be occurring in slow motion, I laid there for awhile trying to work out if I'd broken anything fortunately I'd only lost some skin and was a bit bruised. Accidents happen when you get complacent, become lazy or just take short cuts I believe sometimes these things occur just to give you a wake up call. Glad your OK you could have always told the boys down the pub that you had just finished an Old Boys rugby match.
Glad to see that you are on the mend/mended, as it happened a month ago
Always remember that when you have lived through yesterday, and can talk about it, then yesterday was still a good day, and that tomorrow can sometimes be even better
Look after yourself Paul, it was a lesson learned, so thanks for passing it on to everyone
Same to you Dave, thanks for passing on information, which may be useful to someone in the future
"Smirking" not me Paul. I would not laugh either at anyone that hurt themself. It looks painful indeed and glad all is on the mend. I am sure Eril looked after you and made a nice hot coffee in that big machine of yours on the kitchen bench.

I'm with the Chief of Cheer on this looks too painful to suggest; that although not pretty in the first place you did nothing to improve it. Hope you're getting lots of sympathy at home.
