Forum alumni

I'm sure that you all will have noticed that we have a very broad church when it comes to readers and posters on this site. After 7yrs of observing, and contributing, may I venture a few salient points? It takes all sorts to make a world and our little world in the GNs is no exception, we need our characters, our occasional stirrers and those who accidently (or deliberately) step over the lines set by the Moderator, it is with this in mind that I make the following observations which infer no slight on anyone so I hope that no offence will be incurred.

Every fora should have a Macka. Macka's have been known to sail very close to wind and, sometimes, get into trouble with the likes of those who's avatar would suggest some connection to the building industry and are self appointed keepers of the rules and regulations, but Macka's tend to often get to the nitty gritty too, much to the chagrin of others.

We come now to the purveyors of love and let live and high on this list is Dougwe, a guy, who,as far as I can see, offends nobody and has been known to be the voice of sanity when we are all going hell for leather over some posting. Talking about Dougwe where has his mate Wombat gone? Another character, we all enjoyed his posts. We have had many stirrers in the past and we have a couple right now. I call these people bullet manufacturers who then wait for the gullible to fire the guns. We have also had a person from WA whose sole reason to be on the forum was to put down and denigrate others, we do not need these types but their presence serves as a wake up call to us all.

Now there are a couple of postings that are guaranteed to get everyone going, I refer to the two Ps, Politics and Pensions. These subjects are taboo but someone will occasionally step over the line and incur a salutory slap on the wrist usually by the gate keeper. Now folks we are none of us perfect, although some think they are, we all have to get along in this world as best we can before we shuffle off this mortal coil so, in conclusion, let me say that this is  great site with some really nice people, but, we need that little edginess sometimes or we will become so bland that it will become boring and that must not happen. Should anyone feel aggrieved by this post feel free to "have a go back" I can handle it!!!

Regards,

Some of the threads that cause debate, are the simplest of subjects, I rack my brains but never seem to be able to think of one. Like the one on shortening an extension cord, if you can stir the leckies up, you get more action than standing on a bull ants nest. Love it!

WHATS A WDH

I thought WDH was short for what you said after dinner WELL DONE HONEY.

Then I was told that it stood for men and woman who wear under special garments WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION HOLDERS.

Now I am reliably informed it stands for WIRING DIAGRAM HELPER.

A WDH is a device that allows you to overload your Tug.

My dream is to be the head CEO of the spelling police but for some reason it gets me into trouble every time.

Having just been told I'm now 500 posts behind Dougwe I need to get my a into g and do a catch up.

I'm just a peace loving observer with a lot of questions. I like this post because I like people who say it how it is ,but without being nasty about it. To all of you wonderful, helpful G.N's I thank you for the help you have given me over the last year. To those nasty G.N's I really hope you find some happiness in 2017.

AP - I agree - often the whole meaning of a post is hard to understand, because the poster hasn't put a comma in the right place, or used paragraphs. But hey - good for the old mental health trying to work out some of these - I often get a laugh!!!

Love reading this forum.
Get some good advice if you can sift through the rubbish at times when it goes off track.
The English language can cause a problem at times and I have sometimes been accused of being the spelling nazi, but that's what you get after 40 years of teaching and trying to help people improve.
I love reading posts from Macka. Such a wealth of experience and knowledge from his 150 years of travelling. I worry sometimes about him though with his constant bagging of Holdens and Toyotas - would have thought that all his experience he would have seen the light. Next thing you know, he may tell us he barracks for the Poms in a test and supports Collingwood. That would be a real worry!!!
