Well today job was to get my panels working again so I asked Mr McGoogle for help how to test the panel easy he says , so out to McRoof I go and sure enough one is not working, so off the roof with him it was , and on to mr McBench for a continuity test on the wires in the junction box lid off and found the little tin foil like strip from the panel to the connection box was not actually connected just siting there, soo how to fix it couldnt get it apart where it was supposed to be, so thought , McSolder it I will , nope solder wouldn't stick to the connector McThingy ,bugger , so I had to seperate the plastic around the connecter, ok that's not to hard , there is a little diode in there to that just pushes in so pulled it out all good got Mr McPlastic cover out of the way enough to see how it works , hmm ok pointy nose pliers and squeeze connector opened up inserted thin strip from panel , McEasy , now to reassemble and Mr McPlastic cover is not in the mood to cooperate Mr and Mrs plastic thingy didn't want to go back in to each other, oooh K so pull it apart again and find smarty pants metal part had a seceret McPart underneath had fell out that I didn't see , so how to get him back proved time consuming especially as Mr McEyesight was getting a bit blurry from looking so hard at such little parts, Drink and magnifying glass time, well the drink worked not so much the magnifying glass not enough hands to hoLe it up, bugger again .
Well finaly got it to sit in one half while I pushed Mr & Mrs McPlastic back together, ok time to test again, yay all good.
Well. MR McShade has deserted Mr McRoof by now gettin bloody hot up there but I persisted and all back together test again all good put screws back pull fuse so no load on panels refit wires put fuse back n, "Hey Presto " I have charge going back into batteries phew tools away and it's time for a McBeer to rehydrate Ahhhhh nice
now Mr McPolitical correct people don't bother telling me Mr McBeer will not rehydrate me I know but care factor right now is McZero
McCheers

Thanks for your input T1 Terry was wondering just how many GNs actually keep an eye on here in the solar section as there weren't many hits in the views column .

I hit latest posts . On mobile . Don't generally check myself . Although I have asked and posted ., Trouble with elect ? You can't see it !! Trouble or fault finding can be a pita !! I've done it on mains power ., so frustrating at times !!
I have an amp meter along side of fridge in van.
Know what averages are for sun input (generally)
And what the panels should be inputting. Roughly.
If any variation (you looking straight at it every time you go in van).
you know to check.
So Far. GOOD panels. Good H\d Wiring\connections. Good regulator.
All good touch wood.
Whenever I did work on internal wiring on panels. I normally reconnect (dry solder?.)
then drip 1 drop of epoxy mix to that joint. Normally holds them together.
If drilling through glass I then fill hole completely with epoxy.
plus. when panels new. I always pour some marine epoxy
around each individual wire outletting the glass going to junction box.
They not always fully sealed.
we tried straight Sikaflex yrs ago (30\40). but found the epoxy more a FULL sealer.
Any air\moisture gaps in panel plates will allow corrosion into wiring
and short out the panel over a few yrs.
That's where the quality of build allows the 25yr warranty,
more so than the output levels.
I think that some of us just look up the recent posts, and not the different sections of the forum
I have also come across some Mr McWire and Mr McStrip, who did not like to partner Mrs McSolder and Mrs McResin at the dance
Not knowing much about Mr McLekky, I can only assume that Mr McWire and Mr McStrip, must have been wearing overcoats, made of something which made Mrs McSolder and Mrs McResin run off
Perhaps there was something under Mr McKilts kilt that was exposed to the elements that Mrs McResin saw flash that sent sparks flying through her solar plexus that made her 50 shades of grey turn red hot and had to run away before she over heated and caught fire.
