A couple of weeks ago I posted that I had experienced problems trying to get my Safety Dave rear camera monitor working. I eventually found that I had damaged the connection on both the monitor and the cable from the dash probably by trying to join them with the pins not correctly aligned. This morning I went on the Safety Dave website and sent an email enquiry on whether I could fix it without rewiring the car. Within an hour Dave rang me personally (on a Sunday) and said that it was pretty rare but people sometimes did this and damaged the connection. He said he was going to look after me by sending me some sort of a power loop adapter and monitor extension at no cost so that I could repair it without having to rerun the entire cable through the car. He also gave me the first name of a local auto electrician and told me to tell him that Dave said to look after me in terms of the cost to fit these parts. Once this mod is done if I ever happen to damage the connection again it will just be a simple swap over. This level of customer service completely surprised me particuarly when I was the one responsible for the damage, if anyone is looking to buy a rear camera system I would suggest based on this experience that maybe you should put Safety Dave on top of your list.

I had a Safety Dave camera built into the van from new, also had one put on the car to assist hitching up. No problems so far, they work well. My monitor is demountable and my only issue was trying to align the pins each time I connected it. I think SD will come up with a better connector design before long and hopefully make it easier. I solved the problem by putting a small dot of white paint on both connectors so they're aligned when joined up. All I have to do is line up the dots each time and bingo! it's now almost impossible to get it wrong.

Thanks for the tip SouthernComfort I was wondering how to stop myself from doing it again because it's a real pain to fix. I agree that there should be an easier more foolproof way to connect it as the current connection is quite easy to misalign.
This problem had the potential to cost me well in excess of $200 by the time that I bought the parts and had an auto electrician do the rewiring. The whole exercise cost me $47 (including the GST) thank you Safety Dave not too many companies provide an after sales service like this especially when the customer is at fault.
Just been to the Perth caravan show, been at the Safety Dave stall, can vouch for the service and knowledge base. I mentioned you had problems and he told me to get you to ring Kenneth in Technical, but reading again I see you'd had the problem resolved. He certainly new his stuff and sorted me out, walked away with a 6" monitor two cameras and a light wallet.
