Interior lights in LV 485 Geist Caravan Year 2005

We have just purchased this van and can't work out how the lights in Bathroom area and over Kitchen sink work. Book says these run on 12V.

Other lights on 240V are OK. Previous owners didn't mention faults but when asked how they worked said they didn't know. No response from battery. Is there a switch somewhere that we are missing?

An answer from somebody in the know would be appreciated.

Thankyou.

Our lights in a Jayco are 12v LED, they use wireless switches. If you have a couple of switch pads, not labeled, that appear to be doing nothing, then these are the switches you use to turn the lights on, they may have lost their programing.

Thankyou IANA. We will give your suggestion a try in the next couple of days. Have van parked away currently so will need to go to it to try.

Hi Mal, the lights in both the shower cubicle and above the sink in our Retreat will activate by touching them. The light inside the shower cubicle changes each time you touch the outer rim i.e. on, brighter, brighter then off - maybe you have the same sort of set up on your Geist. These are the only 2 lights in the van that will do this maybe because they are exposed to moisture or being operated with wet hands or something maybe someone else knows the reason why..

Hi The Belmont Bear. Thanks for your response. All these lights have switches. All are round LED lights set into the ceiling. Maybe we will have to seek professional advice. Somewhat disappointing when you purchase in good faith.

My thoughts...

Some vans/motorhomes have an isolation switch that cuts the 12volt power from the house battery.

I sure you've already checked the fuse box ???, but if you haven't that's where to start.

From the fuse box with a multimeter you can test if you have power either side of the fuse.

Also test the house battery, is it fully charged???

Sometimes it's the simple things that we miss that drive us nuts.

Light switch for bathroom lights is the one immediately inside the entrance on the right. There are two switches, one for the bathroom and the other for outside.

Kitchen light from memory is on the actual light.

There should also be a remote with the keys. The remote operates the outside light on one button and the centre interior light on the other button.

On the main switchboard in the kitchen above the small shelf there is controls for the water pump, 12volt battery system, make sure it is on 12v. There should be NO 240volt lights in the van if standard.

The switch that had us stumped the first time was the 240volt switch for the microwave oven, which is the switch above the powerpoint switch in the kitchen.
