Stolen caravan

PLEASE - My caravan was stolen today from a property at Karalee near Ipswich Qld. Its a 22ft Aussie Wide, model Waratah, with Qld Rego 510 QWB.  It is colour white with black checker plate at the front and sides and has 2 yellow jerry cans in holders at the back of the van plus a plumbers cylinder for awning poles in front of the spare wheel.  Only the van was stolen, not the ute.

As I live in the van all my possessions are now gone with the van.  If anyone sees this van, please let me know or the police.  Thanks

Mate: I really feel for you. I have no idea what having your entire home stolen must feel like but pretty damn bad I reckon.

I'm in Melbourne so I'll keep a look out for a van of that description... you never know....

Thank you for the posts and comments. No news to date and of course the longer it takes, the less chance...its just such a kick in the guts and its also going to take me a while to make the decision on what to do next, and how I go about it. Please keep a lookout - Im guessing that the rego plates would have been changed asap, so its the van make that will probably stand out. Cheers all - maybe I will get back on the road sometime ?????

I hope you get it back and the scum who took it get their just deserts, must be devastating for you. I think everyone should think very seriously about fitting tracking devices to all towable vans boats etc. A cheap IPhone or android phone setup off the battery hidden onboard will at least give you some chance of tracking it. Without some kind of tracking device it seems not that many are recovered, for the OP's sake I hope he gets it back.

Sorry to hear that news. I can imagine how devastated you must feel and I hope you get it back quickly.
Did you have any kind of lock on the draw bar ? I have a draw bar lock but rarely put it on so maybe I will start being more vigilant.
Did you have Insurance ? It wont replace everything but would help.
Please let us know how you get on.

Just an update - there has been no news on my stolen caravan. As its been a month now I am trying to come to terms with it gone for good. Peter - Yes I had a tow bar lock on it but that didn't stop them. Not too sure if they cut this off or just put chains on and dragged it out of the property. They knocked a pole over on the side of the driveway as well. Yes I had insurance and they have been good but of course my contents were way way under insured. I now have to try and decide if I get another van and try again - if I do then its locks and chains everywhere PLUS a tracking device. Cheers and thanks for your interest

Good Luck sorting that out it must be very upsetting.
I think a tracking device is a good investment and after hearing your story will be fitting one to my van.
When I purchased it it had chains and padlocks everywhere but I have removed most of them
Maybe I will re think it

Hi.
I have a tracker on my phone. and whenever we go out. we take Di's ph. leaving mine on silent under seat cover back at rear for best reception.

If you "really" concerned about stolen vans.

Get a modified Swing up\detatchable drawbar welded up\fitted to front of van.

4 bolts. and plug in cables.(Swivel on 2 . Lock with 4)

Just detach stick it in your boot\tray,
when you go away anywhere.

No matter what else.
if they ain't got a truck with winch.
YOUR van ain't going nowhere.....

I live in Tasmania and see a lot of interstate caravans and motor homes. I usually look at number plates to see where a these people are from. What is be helpful is the Plate number, particularly for interstate drivers. If I saw a Qld. plate and knew a van was stolen from Qld, I'd certainly check it out. In your case, you have given the plate number, which I feel gives more chance of your van being spotted. I have your plate number noted and have been checking out Qld. registered vans that I see on our streets and highways.
