My Motorhome is a Jayco conquest which I bought secondhand. A lot of the external plastic mouldings have yellowed I assume due to exposure to the elements. On some the clear coating has cracked and started to flake off. Has anyone had a similar problem. How have you repaired it . Rubbed back and painted and if so what type of paint is best.

My second hand Jayco Conquest has the same problems There was one small leak, which I managed to repair with a bit of selastic
I assume that in the years to come, I will purchase new mouldings (from somewhere) and glue them on
It will be interesting to find out if anyone has actually had their mouldings replaced
I would think it would depend on the type of plastic because some plastics need to be etched first. Most Auto shops like supercheap stock spray cans of paints formulated for spraying plastic like dashboards. Perhaps start there.

I have painted some of the plastic on my Jayco using a spraycan paint called rustoleum and it can be found in Bunnings. It is formulated for plastic amongst other materials. I've used it on all sorts of surfaces , it needs no primer and will stick to all surfaces. I've given it a fair run and had no failures. I'm just about to do some more on my van. Just remember to mask up well.
Thanks guys for your response. Tony I had to buy a new moulding for the rear of the van after a tree ran out and hit me (my story and Im sticking to it) moulding was $900 from Jayco and not cheap.
Hi Jim good luck with the project which I have been following as I have a similar problem with the plastic door on the external shower on our Sprinter MH and I would very much appreciate if you could post here the results of your progress. Regards Tony

Jaybird thanks for the info I will check it out
Jim
Thanks for that info Jim, it is appreciated
Next time I am in the city, I shall pop into Jayco and ask about the ones I require
On mine.Winebago . I used a cut and polish wax . Then bees wax water protection treatment . I may have to try the spay paint latter though ? I find oxidising paint from roof, sides from rain, tuning down sides leaves a dull cover over transfers also . Since prep and painting roof it's way better .,
