Has anyone on here fitted such a device for 1: Security (we have 60K worth of van sitting alone a lot of the time) and 2: Allow family and friends to track our travels (Might have to rethink that one)

A lot of Phones have that "Track my phone" capability in them.
Buy a second hand one. or a cheapie.
Plug it in somewhere out of sight. (To the battery.)
I tracked my first Samsung Tablet after leaving it at Auckland Airport.
Coupla yrs ago.
Spent several months watching it being turned on and off over in West Africa.
Till I got bored.
Those trackers only work when power ON to them.
We thought about fitting one but as my wife says "who would want their van back after it's been stolen and who know what's happened to it"
Similar I guess to if your home is burgled with all your personal possessions all over the place....you feel violated and just want to distance yourself.
We opted for full insurance cover and a very simple security alarm....haven't needed either yet.
