Navman MYEscape IV gps navigator

Hi All,

I am thinking of purchasing one of these but open to other reccomendations.

Would like a gps with low height clearance and load limit info.

TIA.

Can't say much about modern Navman.
But a few yrs ago they were a good thing to stay away from.

Fine (sometimes,) when they went. but had a bad habit of stopping.
Specially the marine ones.

Garmin, followed by Tom Tom on road GPS usually.
Reputation wise.

Regarding traffic, heights etc limits.
That is more the individual mapping of both model, and brand of machine.

They ALL have differing software.

I've had Garmin for last 30 odd yrs. never a bad one yet.

biggrinbiggrinbiggrin Purchased one a few months ago on special at JBHIFi.

Have had a number of units over the years, Garmin being the worst and until this one LG being the best. However this unit is way ahead of the game, clear instructions that make sense, up to date maps that I have put to the test with a selection of routes to choose from.

The more we use it the more impressed I am, highly recommend this unit.biggrin

google maps on the iphone is getting to be great . don't think it does low height clearance and load limit info.

if you are concerned that you need internet connections for the maps then you can find other apps which let you pre download the maps

Hema Navigator - has street maps with lots of features (like fuel stations - which is the closest to your current position and will detour you to it and back onto your original route) and if youre a country, wild west person - the best off roads maps.

Expensive at $599 - but made totally in Melbourne, software written locally and BIG screen to view with. Good email and phone backup - the guy who designs the units usually is the guy who is on the phone or keypad and will dumb to any level to solve a problem

When mine eventually bites the dust, I will buy another Hema
