Anyone savy on electrical please We have a Toyota hilux 2002 and trying to put on 4WD this morning and the green light on the dashboard did not come on. The gears were engaged. We were thinking of a fuse but where could it be????? Help. Thank you

I'll take a wild stab in the dark and suggest... the fuse box! :)
The first thing to check is whether 4WD is actually working. The way I do this is to put the vehicle into 4WD in a bitumen car park where there is plenty of space and very slowly drive in a very tight circle. Stop as soon as you feel the front wheels objecting to this as you have proved 4WD is working. Does anyone know a better way?
Assuming 4WD is working it may well be the switch on the transfer case which is activated by 4WD, they sometimes get clogged with mud or, if 4WD has not been used for a while get a bit "sticky". Try going in and out of 4WD a few times.
It's a good idea to engage and use 4WD around once a month even if you only drive 100m *in a straight line* on the bitumen. Better if you can do a few kilometres on dirt.

Fuse boxes are usually under the dash or under the bonnet somewhere near the battery. Sometimes both (ie, two sets of fuses).
I'm no auto electrician, but I would be surprised if that light had its own fuse. More likely it is grouped with other dash lights, and if the fuse failed, they wouldn't work either. Check to make sure your oil pressure light, and other warning lights are operating.
I'd guess that the switch would be the most likely culprit. Failing that, a broken wire or loose connector. Been through any rough country or water deeper than normal lately?
If you can find the fuse box, most vehicles have the fuses labelled so you can see which one is likely to be connected to that light. The switch will either be on the transfer box, or on the shift mechanism.

All the lights on the dashboard are working. The high and low gears seem to be ok on 4WD. We can here the click of the mechanism on or off. Lifted the car and the front shaft works freely unlocked as it should be, and visa versa. I think we will have a trip to the mecanic when home. In the meantime we will have to be careful.
We are not far from Mount Isa.
