You could cable lock the cylinder to the drawbar, or because dope turn on cylinders and walk away, I would unhook the cylinders and put them in the van , when not in use.

Bob.

Thanks for your advice -I'm an absolute novice & foolishly believed people when they told me "you'll be right-it's easy!"  Hmmmm-very stressful so far & I haven't left home!

Hi Kathleen - welcome to the forum, and a good post you put up re gas bottles, when vans are parked in vulnerable areas. We had our trailer plug cut off right at the inward point to the van, few years ago now - it was parked on a pad built for it in our front yard. My husband made a strong metal locking cage to put the new one it, no-one could get it then. Have seen people with their gas bottles on their vans, parked up in streets, etc., and I always think, geez anyone could steal them, or turn the gas on. We always used to put ours in the garage, or inside caravan itself. Having read thjis back, I think I will post it on the forum anyway - but you can read it personally - stay sane and safe!

If your gas bottle clamp is like this one all you need is a couple of light weight pad locks (one for each bottle) to lock the clamp. If they have the necessary cutters to cut the pad locks they have the necessary tools to circumvent any other security device you use.

You can purchase small pad locks in keyed alike packs. We have three in use, 2 gas bottles and the spare tyre.

Instal  a Limited Neutron Bomb Device - any perps will disappear but your van will be left in one piece.

Hi Kathleen

I'm not sure if anything is truly safe but something like this may help put your mind at ease...

These are good whilst they work . Mine didn't like being out in the weather. Quickly gave up the ghost, even though it never actually got rained on.  Note - they come in 2 different lengths.

Cheers John.
