Looks like you have purchased a multi-coloured led light strip - I am not sure but I think you need a RGB controller or dimmer which should show you where to input the different coloured wires & output + &- to your desired type of plug.

Hi you did get the 3 colour leds if you look at the termination end you will find it marked R= red G=green B= Blue and if you join all three together R+G+B= white light
You will find one wire is earth and the other 3 are lighting the led up
If you only connect 2 or 1 than the Led will shine a lot less and you can see on the Led that only an part will light up
Maybe a good thing if you don't have to cut the strip
They are an bugger to solder new wires on
I had a strip like that for less than $15 and I got rid of it to hard to solder
the best one's are the strip with only 2 connections on it
Maybe you can return them and get some other ones
Make sure polarity is correct . Being a diod they only work one way . I have a strip just above plastic protection strip on motorhome for under awning .Simple and dam good light . The UV is getting to it . But at $8 or so I'll just replace it when or if it fails ?? Only require thin speaker wire to run it also .
Hopeing not to go too far off topic, but those strip lights , do they have a self adhesive surface to attach them?
My van has a slide out, and I am thinking about installing some very low wattage LEDs to show the slide out is extended at night. Am thinking more of the free park areas, where there may be no lights, and someone walking into it, or worse someone damaging it with a vehicle.
Would something like that be the answer, I'm only talking about one or two small lights, not a Christmas tree!
Yep mine did . I used a little clear silastic every 300mm or so to make sure it didn't come off . I'd say PERFECT for slide out . Have used left over LED short strips too light up dark areas . In main or fuse board area, steps etc .

make sure you clean the surface you want it to stick to REALLY well, with thinners or metho or something nasty. This will ensure the adhesive doesnt fail prematurely.
The cheapest suppliers I have found are Dealextreme dot com, you have to do a lot of comparing though.
I got it going with the 3 colours. Next day nothing so may be a dud. I will try and get a refund. I have no idea why I ordered it. lol
Anyway a white version is on its way.

I reversed polarity and they worked again. The white wire that I used as the earth is actually the positive!! The 3 coloured wires got to the negative side of the supply. Must have been an accident the first test.
