What car is this.

To my learned friends, I am presently in Innsbruck, Austria and while waiting at the traffic lights this rolled in.

I am unable though google to put a brand name on the car. Any ideas, the car is very well restored.

The driver had such a big grin.

The Rekord script on the radiator is the clue. Apparently built by Hanomag. Never seen one, but great photo of a classic being used well.

Hi All

After spending some time googling Rekord Motor Car, I really am no where near convinced of what I am about to quote.

The car is a possible late 1930 ties Rekord.having a six cylinder  motor, the more I view my photo the more I am convinced it is a close relative of the Vauxhall sedan my Grand father owned in Australia about 1948.

Opel  used the model name Rekord over the years in several different periods.

I must go for walk up in the hills where it come from to see if I can find the owner for more information.

Hi PeterD

Yes! Peter you hit the nail on the head, Hanamag Rekord.

Google Hanamag

Aus kiwi, yes Vauxhall had the strips down the bonnet,

Looking at the wheels, sharpe of the car plus Rekord is used as model in the Opel range of cars.

Now PeterD, the ever skillfull googler found Hanamag of Hanover was the builder of these Rekord motor cars, car production ceased when WW2 broken out.

Thank you everyone for your imput.

Funny relationships and family trees in the car business. Interesting mentioning Rekord, Opel & Vauxhall all in same discussion.

Have a look at the Opel Rekord and see if you recognise it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Rekord

It's not just the quality of the car in the first pic, it's the quality of the actual picture that I'm more impressed with. It's just fantastic.

 Thank you.

Would you believe it's a happy snap with my Samsung S5.

Taken at 5.19pm, iso 50, f2.2, 1/100 sec, 5.4 mb.

Just right time, right place.

Yep.
I was in Gernamy in late '50's (Army)

I had a "Kapitan". (Opel) next model up.
That's a '40's model.

Have a photo somewhere of me sitting on wing of later Sport model Rekord
outside barracks.
See if I can find.

You can see the Vauxhall / Opel / GM family resemblance.
