Camper under floor water leak.

This is more of a solution than a repair question, I recently bought a soft top camper and have been doing everything to it to make sure I reduce any problems I might have on the road. We are doing a trip from Perth to Sydney and back again so a few klms will be covered.

The electrics have been renewed and replaced where necessary, and brakes, bearings, mastercylinder and slaves repaired and replaced. I thought I had better fill the water tank to make sure that was ok, and it wasn't. as soon as the level of the inlets was reached the water decided to vacate the tank.

Up it went and the hoses were checked and the outlet had a clamp on it the inlet did not, I put one on and re checked it, still leaking, so up it went again, the corrugated hose where it was bent to enter the tank had a split in it, luckily there was enough length in the hose to cut it back and reattach it, I reclamped it and the test, it does not leak any more, so it pays to check and double check. so all that left to do is the final pack up and we'll get on the road in about 2 weeks time.

I had a similar problem on my second hand caravan, Bob

My corrugated hose was from the sink, for grey water

I cut a piece out, but it cracked again, due to (I think) old age

They are readily available at Bunnings

It would not be much fun, loosing your water on the Nullarbor, so I hope that it does not crack again

Not a gud idea to have "corrugated " hose in water supply lines.

Reinforced clear or food grade Blue.
with elbows at angles into\out of.
The hose itself will take any vibrations.

My offroaders. I had 1\2 in line. clamped. with overlay pipe of Metric size to suit. Also clamped.

IE. Long, solid spigot out of tank\Pump..
1\2in. Hose to there. Clamped.
with shorter each end, Metric size? hose, overlaid that.
clamped to itself. 1\2in hose, and spigot.

so all had good grip on solid pipe with clamps.
Just extra security (Overkill. Me) when we went real bush yrs ago.
With extra supply inside Patrol.
Pack of "spring water" bottles.

Worked out in the Simpson. Early '70's.
on a dragline at lake Torrens.
My first ever job in Aust.

I Really was a the original."Pommy(granate)"
Red as. From Pommy winter to Simpson.

Not really a fan of the corrugated hose myself Maccka I will change it out at a later date and intend carrying extra water , I have done a few nullabor trips, water was never an issue but good to have if a problem arises.

I've had to change all the WHITE hoses in my motorhome . Was hose to filtered water tap..Strange thing is the red and black hoses look like new . With under floor heat they cracked.. Easy to replace with push on fittings.. The corigated hose on my dishwasher at home didn't last long . Replaced it with reinforced double hose .. Just break down with age as it was inside ..
