Thinking of getting a new GPS. Had a look at the new Garmin GPS with inbuilt cam, weight and height functions. Anyone using truck GPS and find the weight and height usefull?
stretch.
But. Mostly we have GPS, Plus a dash cam. At our ages.
And EVERYBODY... KNOWS. their length. width. height, and weight.
Don't we now........
Or should do anyway.
Most I know have been to weighbridge. empty and loaded.
and paid for both tickets to show. as an indicator of.
At least.
I have a Garmin 65 Around $160ish when I bought it.
155 diag, screen. sharp as.
Does and tells you everything but wipe your ass.
Just formatted lappie last night Again.
so brought Garmins in and updating maps. Free for lifetime of mach's.
Full coverage Aust\N.Z. 2018.20.
Took 15 min's.
Thank's for reminding me.
One thing.
Just be very careful.
That when you have anything... (They love checking large screens)
Mounted ON dash. or UP along each side of.
That it does NOT come into your line of sight when sitting at wheel.
From line of eyes to bonnet. ROOF line. or vertical side lines.
I saw one cop doing it once. in a line up.
I was about 1\8th of an inch in the clear. With rear camera screen (7in diag).
it's in one of sons truck now.
Hema for me. Has usual mapping like most GPs units, but off road partition which covers just about any track in Aust. You can also create "bread crumbs" so it will lead you back to where you started.
Lots of other features like Servos and the nearest to your current location and how to get to it, caravan parks, free/low cost areas and so on
Made and supported in Aust.

The amazing things you see when nomading Australia
We have both Garmin and Hema (Garmin on Drivers side and Hema on passengers side) both are really good, I prefer the directions from the Garmin in Street mode, but the advantage of The camps 8 and dump point material in the HEMA is also great.
Hema is truly exceptional off road and has much better mapping.
Neither has a Truck mode and certainly driving through Melbourne it would be good (if it does actually have the low bridges and passes accurately) Coming off the ferry once we had to make many detours due to height restrictions.
At the end of the day none are perfect and some will do things better and worse than others.
