We were able to sneak a few days away from July 18th. We just needed to veg out. First day saw us arrive 80km north from Ballarat to Teddington Reservoir. A good chance to try out our satellite vast tv again, which worked well. Unfortunately internet was not so good so we headed to Mt Jeffcott for a couple of nights. We then decided to have a look at some of the painted silos. We had already been to the Brim ones on a previous trip to a family wedding. Sheep Hills seemed to be a good direction to take. After Sheep Hills down the road we went to Rupanyup to view the smaller silos done in greyscale.
Next was to Murtoa for the night in the park by Lake Marma. Even though, being self contained, we mostly stay places without cost $20 was good value. We were going to stay the last night near Ararat at Green Hill Lake Reserve but Eril was coming down with a cold so decided to use the Ararat dump point, have a look at Green Hill Lake Reserve for future use, and use the newest part of the Western Hwy upgrades to get us home to Miners Rest.
Sometimes a short trip like you did holds more memories in it then a super long trip.
Especially when you go up though an area where you generally just travel though to go some where else and keep thinking, why have I not done this before.

Hi Radar, we are heading off in an hour or two for approx. 10 days travelling to Swan Hill and back. I have the opportunity to weigh as we head off so that might be interesting.

Sure did have the coffee machine Doug. Finally got Eril's Mum to use a couple of weeks respite she is entitled to. Hope she enjoys it so we can can have several trips a year of more than 3 or 4 days.
So, been away again since Wednesday. Working our way down the Murray. After a visit to Moulamein NSW from Cohuna and now tonight in Nyah.
Nice pics Paul. That's a good way to make the ever present silos in southern country towns look much more attractive. I recall seeing a couple like that on our journey. Can't recall seeing any like that in WA though. We could learn from those.

We are in Norseman at the moment after taking 3 weeks to travel through Vic. before ambling across the Nullarbor The painted silos are wonderful we also loved the various Rest sites that offered power for $5 to $10. The best if both worlds and some were amazing. Brim I think was our favourite.
Apparently there are painted silos in Ravensthorpe WA. We may see them on our way to Wave Rock. We had planned to go directly from Norseman to Hyden but is has rained overnight and forcast to rain until midweek so that plan may change and we will go via Ravensthorpe on sealed roads. We will be meandering around for a few weeks waiting for the flowers to appear and hope to be at Seabird at the end of the month. I hope to meet some of you there.

Hi Margaret - hope you do make it to the get together, you will meet some lovely people, and have a good time. We are here for the third time. (In WA - currently at Seabird.
There is another painted silo at Toodyay (WA) - has been there for as long as we are coming over, both ends are painted differently, with farmers at one end, and modern art at the other - interesting - good town as well.
The wreath flowers are opening up now, and the bushes and roadside foliage is changing colour - beautiful pinks, reds, golds, can't wait for the "Christmas" trees to turn golden - bit of rain overnight, so they will love that.

Hi Paul, We also love to take the van to the Mallee/Wimmera region when we can get 2 or 3 days away from work. We love the towns and the roads are generally quite relaxing to tow the van on and there is loads of quiet cheap or free spots to camp. Yours photos of the silos have come up really well. Rod.
