Accomodation spots through West and S.W. W.Aust.

Does anyone know of cheaper motels between Coolgardie and Perth,...or around the Albany Walpole region and around Esperance.  These locations are all within my flexible line of fire on this 4-5 week solo trip from Adelaide, Kalgoorlie, Perth, Albany and Esperance that I'll finally be heading off to in a couple of days time.

I'm travelling in a dual cab Hi-lux with canopy so I have no problem 'camping' in the back of that, in caravan parks, if necessary but the occasional motel bed and hot shower wouldn't go astray either.

I don't want to be paying out a huge 3 figure sum of good spending money when all I'd need is a kip for the night and a shower in the morning.

Any thoughts or ideas would certainly be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Lance.

Aldi have got a king single swag for $100 next Saturday. A swag & pull out awning is about the cheapest nights sleep. Might be a bit cool for another month or so. Cheers Pete

I actually found three cheap but VERY basic 'bed in a box' type accommodation across the Nullarbor last week, where what seems to be old transportables or building site offices have been converted. Best one was in Ceduna and included a basic en suite, fridge and TV for $60. Eucla had the basic 'bed in a box' for $50 and Balladonia had a VERY BASIC bed in a box, also $50 and the only reason I stayed the night there was that I didnt want to do another 200 k's to Norseman at night when I had already counted 300 dead kangaroos on the side of the road since Eucla. I'm now heading for my fourth night staying in a Kalgoorlie caravan park cabin and this has to be the best value of the lot. A very clean converted site office with 3/4 bed, modern shower and loo, a/c, 32" TV, fridge/freezer, desk, cupboard, jug, tea and coffee etc for $66 a night. I'm going out to Karonie today for the first time since 1964 so that will be the culmination of this whole trip. Everywhere after Karonie will be a bonus to this 4 week trip. Photos will follow soon. Cheers Lance

Hi Lance, I've just recently come back from the east with a mixture of Caravan parks and freecamps. I did notice that Munglinup, west of Esperance has a good freecamp opposite the service station. It has a toilet block with showers which you pay for at the service station. It looked ok & is not right on the highway. I'll be staying there next time. Also, nice ppl running it and not out to make a rip-off.
Also, a great place to stay is Parry's Beach, just west of Denmark. There's heaps of info on here about it if you enter it on "search". It's roughly about $20 pn, right by a nice beach and has a good shower block and fireplaces. Hopefully you'd get there before school hols as you can't book it ahead. (No cabins there though.)

Last reply went before I'd barely started it. Thanks for that info, which will come in very handy after I leave Perth in a week or so and keep heading South. Albany region, the timber country anf then across to Esperance are all still to come before I start heading back to Adelaide. Cheers Lance

Lance, re cheap cabins etc, for Esperance try the Bushlands Caravan Park (near the Pink Lake), have cheap cabin with ensuite shower toilet etc, also kitchen/fridge etc, etc.    See in Camps 7 book if you have one.
