Thanks aussie-paul,
I made a mistake when I bought my system on the house. I had several quotes & chose a middle of the road system - then $8500 for a 1.7kw system in 2011, just after TC Yasi came blowing by.
I could have bought a cheap system but thought it might be a fly-by-night crowd.
I was wrong - the mob I went with although using amongst the best solar panels & inverters, were the fly-by-night crowd & they used installers of dubious standards, some were good, others rotten! When the crunch came & I had a roof fire due to mismatched connectors being used that water got into, they had gone into receivership. Fortunately my insurance covered the cost of a new roof & new solar system ($2Kw). And the "cheap crowd" was actually one of the biggest electrical crowds here in Townsville & they installed the new system. They were cheap as they bought in panels by the container load, not pallets!
You never can tell!
