Has anyone replaced the standard lead acid battery with a lithium battery and are they compatible with the EBL109-6 or does anyone have any advice on lithium batteries for vans
We have an Avan Erin Mk2. If you change battery type don't forget to change the ''battery type'' setting on your Electroblock. It's on the right of the line of blade fuses in this image. Different Electroblock to yours but they're all pretty similar to this one.
Avan electrics are a nightmare.

Thanks for that I am just wondering whether the lithium batteries can be recharged with the Elektroblok
We recently had our battery replaced (original lasted 5 years from new) by our Auto Electrician of 40 years. He reckons Avan electrics are a pain in the a***e too. He replaced it with a slightly higher amp hour capacity battery.
Some of the blade fuses in the Electroblock are so damn confusing. We replaced a blown fuse a while ago. It controlled half of the ceiling down lights & the peizo ignition on the cook top?
The other fuses don't make a lot of sense either. We carry a pack of each color just in case.

I would do a lot more research into what this electrobloc unit is capable of before i contemplated fitting a LiFePo4 battery. This type of battery is usually not on the radar of the manufacturers of these type of all in one units. We have been running a lithium battery for 5 years quite successfully. We did our homework on charging from car and solar before going down this path, we don't have any 240 volt charging and have never needed it. The system has been fantastic particularly through last years wet whether in NSW and Qld with no need for any other charging system than we have installed.
Having said this LiFePo4 is probably best suited to those who free camp almost exclusively rather than those who mix CPs and free camps. So be certain in your own mind that this is for you before your spend the money.

Looks like you could remove the "internal charging module" fuse then use another LiFePO4 friendly charger? The Electroblock would then just provide fused distribution. If you not that... interpret the wiring, pull the Electroblock unit out and just install a fuse block, a separate charger, solar controller and protection systems. It wouldn't take a pro long to work out the wiring on those multipin connectors.
