Did plod actually tell you you were 0.0% - that is - did they tell the actual reading you blew?
I am 99% certain they are not allowed to advise your reading if you blow below .05%.
That is in case you did have a few drinkies ... and it just might give the driver a false sense of security - eg 0.1% "Not bad, and I had 4 pots before." and that would/could lead the driver into thinking they could do that all the time - next time blowing 0.06%. .
Jest sayin'
Cheers - John

The reason I KNOW that I blew 000% was the fact that on each occasion I hadn't had a drink for around three days prior to being tested. Good enough for me & the extremely rude constabulary. Is it good enough for you?
Unlike many retirees we have plenty of alcohol free days on our travels.
Just sayin'.

Rocky is correct. You may think you blew 000% but the cops won't tell you. I've asked what my reading was several times and they wouldn't tell me. They just say OK, off you go and politely if you are polite to them. I have no prostate but my annual tests don't say my PSA is 000%. Just say it's within a range.
Sorry DD ... didn't mean to get ya knickers all in a knot

Perhaps you don't realise that many cough medicines will produce a reading of between 0.02% and 0.03% depending on the time between taking a dose and meeting plod wif a stick.
Even some icecreams will also read 0.01% if ya eat one and meet plod with 30mins.
I am a non-drinker ... for what it's worth ... I work at harvesting regularly. On a property at Nyah in Victoria a couple of years ago, I had eaten a large bunch of Black Muscat grapes in the 30 minutes between knock-off and when plod made me blow in the stick ... coz the plod knew me and was surprised I raised a reading he said he wasn't allowed to tell me the reading but then said, "OH, look here comes another vehicle." .. and 'accidentally' held the reader pointed at me for about 10secs ... I saw the reading - 0.02%.
He told me to be careful just how many grapes I ate after work .... and to make sure I washed my mouth out before leaving the vineyard.
Cheers - and agen, sorry for getting ya dander up - John

Cheers Rocky, we're always polite to police but unfortunately they aren't polite to us from our recent experiences. We don't take cough mixture or harvest grapes like yourself. You didn't offend us in any way, the cops did though.
Maybe they need a crash coarse on how to be Polite rather than Police.

We jest gotta take the good wif the not so good.

i doubt police have time to pander to every one a bit like many doctors they appear to be arrogant and rude but have more important things on there mind maybe dd could go on the same crash coarse with the offending policeman
I agree with you about the attitude of Victoria police DD. In my experience it is too often high handed and arrogant.
Policing in a democratic country can only work effectively and efficiently with the cooperation of the public and given that people of the ilk of most posters to this forum are lightly to be decent, law abiding and good citizens then if the police are upsetting us - probably the easiest social group they deal with - then they likely have a *very* bad relationship with many other groups. Unfortunately the job of policing often attracts people who seek to control and wield power over others.
Perhaps the courteous police officers need to push for more training in this area for their less civil colleagues.

Wow thanks for that. I was totally unaware that fresh grapes had alcohol content in them.

They actually don't have alcohol in their juice ... at the time of eating.
However, the juice can slightly 'ferment' in the saliva in the mouth over a bit of time .. and it is the juice that remains in the saliva that causes the 'false positive' reading.
If you google ... you will see there are some icecreams that have the same effect ... and many medicines (even prescription) and some lollies that leave an effect on the saliva.
That is why before being charged, the tester is supposed to take another reading 15 minutes or later to confirm whether it was a 'false positive' or not. Especially if you are showing no indication of having consumed alcohol - eg not a smell on the breath.
Cheers - John

Did try google as I am interested in this, but was unable to find any info.
I know some medicines do have an alcoholic content, but am amazed to think that in a matter of minutes grape juice in your mouth can cause fermentation to produce alcohol.
If you have any links to this I would love to read up further.
I take every cop as I find them. In Victoria Ive worked with many (I was in security running my own business) and after 18 years only 3 were bad apples.
The trouble is they work shifts, they dont know who we are, dangerous, sweet talkers, complainers and their paperwork sends most to early retirement. Most are ok. But its a tough job.

The only thing democratic is we democraticly vote for a political party to dictate to us.
Turned up one morning, and failed the compulsory breath test, for that employment site Sent home, and as it was his third time, was due to have his employment terminated
Came back that afternoon, (with a Union Rep) The Union Rep put the false reading down to The night before the man had four slices of, toasted raisin bread That morning he had another four slices of, toasted raisin bread
I suppose the moral of the story is If you really, really, really wish to drink and drive
