240v wiring in motor home

Here we go again Peter, first you say absolutely no flex cord can be used for fixed wiring, then it gets changed to the correct conductor diameter and insulation s required .... but you tack on a bit of your own beliefs to the quote from the standard:

"Note: It only applies to factory produced & approved products

Does not apply to on site Fixed wiring using NORMAL 15 A EXTENSION LEAD CABLE"

Is that actually in the standards Peter? The "Normal 15 amp extension lead cable" bit just doesn't look like the way standards are written because there is no reference to what "normal" actually refers to is there?
The same electrical rules apply as apply to TPS cable so the required insulation and conductor size remains part of the requirement, but the bit about clearance inside the walls if no additional conduit is used applies equally to both flex cable and TPS ..... so is any caravan legal if your interpretation is used?
If this is actually the case, then the only legal bits are the ones I've done and had verified by my sparkie because all the 240vac cabling I run is also in conduit

If I get a chance today I'll post a photo of the wiring in this van we are doing at the moment, doesn't quite meet the standards for insulation or separation between 240vac cabling and 12v cabling and I guess every van that has the 12v and 240vac light switch side by side would suffer the same problem ...... yet they all have a certificate of compliance to the 3001 standard
We have rectified all the crook wiring connections as a matter of principle because I believe anything clearly unsafe should be fixed no matter what, sadly that can be more than half labour times in some vans simply because either the builder didn't understand the principle of double pole switching or the kid who did the wiring at the factory couldn't understand the principle of getting all the conductor in the terminal .... you will see what I mean when I post the photos

Hope you have a good Christmas Peter and keep the good times up front in your mind as Christmas can be very hard to get through after loosing a life long companion, especially the first Christmas.

We shall do battle again in the New Yr

 Hi Terry

Thanks & a merry Xmas to you & yours & a happy new year.

I might not be able to discuss biggrinsmilethings with you for a while

Actually my problems have just got a lot harder where Leila is concerned

I have been having problem with my short term memory for some time , but  I woke up last Thursday to find I had totally lost Visual Memory [the one where you can actually see pictures of the past in one's life]

Those memory PICTURES in my head of all the good things Leila & I did togethercrycry

Ordered to hospital  [Green slopes PRIVATE] by ambulance for tests, luckily nothing too serious found by the C scan or MRI, but the problem not solved, but the specialist was going to let me home  for Xmas & then see him first week of Next year for further investigations

Then just after lunch today, Sunday , another problem

My blood pressure has been fluctuating all over the place for quite some time & for over 12 months My GP & Logan hospital have been juggling meds to try & get it right. without much success. varying from 168/85 down to 92/60

Just before he arrived to confirm that I could have the day out,[ around 1PM ]I had a nasty episode where my blood pressure, for no reason jumped to 188/ 135 .Pulse rate 99

The hospital Emergency heart doctor was quick getting there & slammed a  nitro patch on me which slowly started to pull it down   My Doc kept me there until nearly 6Pm with constant monitoring then said I could go home & take the patch off when it got down to around 120/70  & provided I took reading at 2 hr  intervals ,recorded  them until they were normal for ME &I felt OK  ,again see him early in new year [he to send me the date]

He knows how I handled Leila's  heart problems@  home,  so trusts me to know when to act

But I must take readings  at least AM & PM  both sitting & standing daily& record them, until I see him[ I have been doing to that for my Gp for over 12 months,]

The good thing is he seems to think he can do something about the BP  problems, but not seem quite so confident about the memory problem [more tests needed]

GSPH did a blood test for heart attack as soon as I arrived Thursday  morning, & the next thing the emergency doctor was in asking me if I knew I had Kidney problems, very happy when I said I had an appointment, to be confirmed, for early Jan with Logan  hospital urology Specialists

To top it all off When I got home  a message from Logan hospital  booked in for a check up of my kidney problems,  2nd week of Jan, which I think will not be too good

So not sure what is ahead of me.

But All being well ,we shall renew the bouts , sometime in the new year biggrinbiggrinsmile

Also A Merry XMAS & Happy New year to ALL other forum members.

Worked 34 years with electrical installation Inspectors . There is a wide variety of rules that overlap . Section this due to that etc . Itâs not all straight forward . Which leads to debates and frustration. Texting on here doesnât make it easier either . Trouble is the unqualified read things and try to do their own work . !

All the best for the New Yr Peter, hope they sort the health issues and it's just stress causing the mind problems. Mine is trauma induced dementia according to one lot of doctors/shrinks as a result of the brain box being rattled in the car accident, the other side says there is nothing wrong with me .... one of the rare cases where I'd like to think the insurance company doctors are right ......
