You have many wonderful lakes in Queensland to camp near, so I don't really understand what you mean.
Gday...
I think he means a place where they have Schoolies for Seniors ... IE I mean a lake where all the forum GN members congregate over the summer months ... or anytime of the year actually.
cheers - John

Waruma Dam used to be similar to Greens Lake but due to numerous people setting up for several months, the authorities introduced a maximum stay of 14 days so many more could enjoy the venue.
Us Mexicans enjoy our good dry summers then head north as it gets colder then back south when it gets hot and sticky. Best of both worlds :)
Do the North Queenslanders (Townsville to Cairns) still call all the winter travellers loopies? Doing the loop up & back from anywhere south of Central Queensland.
At a deep and thoughtful discussion at Greens Lake tonight, It would appear that us Mexicans go north on mothers day an return south on Fathers Day.
Meanwhile there are people paying up to $100 a night for a waterfront on the Victorian coast this time of year whilst no charge for a waterfront site at Greens.
And DougWE heard a rumour that Lakeside Drive is being changed to Lakeside Boulevard and the rates are being doubled. Bugger.
Yep, inflation is setting in at GreenS Lake, Nth Central VIC Double the current fee is just way too much, bugga
Gday...
No probs young Dougie ...
Jest put put up ya hourly rate for cleaning the camp area and loos to match the increase in rates
Cheers - John
Yep, rents & leases may rise at Greens...the Amenities Block cleaning contractor was not overly impressed this morning with the state of the Block...which actually was BLOCKED! There are many piglets living amongst us. YUK!
Will only get worse in the approaching Long Weekend. These things don't happen along "Lakeside Boulevard" of course.

I wish that we had a green lake up here in Queensland.

Yes, we do have some great lakes up here in Queensland.
I have just planned our trip itinerary from as they say... Mother''s day to Father's day.
We will be visiting some great country and towns and tourist attractions on this trip.
It includes a lot of camping on the many lakes , dams and rivers, creek in the area from say Kingaroy ( Qld) to Emerald ( Qld) and west to Longreach Winton and THE ISA.
Have not as yet planned our return trip back to home base in Logan City. Qld.
Main reason for these sites is for fishing and red claws.
Do not to go any further north into Croc. country as we have an inflatable boat.
To easy a pray for Crocs.
Caravans parks if and when we have to. Much prefer Bush camping.

Hi Jay&Dee, don't worry about the crocs up north mate cos when they bite ya inflatable they will fill with air and float away then you will be OK to keep fishing.
Hope you are both well?

I was there for the very first get together. Toilets and rubbish collection was an issue then. It was hot. The water was muddy and not terribly inviting. What was wonderful, were the people. I couldn't have met a nicer group anywhere. Sadly most of the old originals have now moved on from the forum. I still keep in touch though.
The second time was the infamous NEW YEARS EVE that resulted in the closure. We had no problems other than being aware that a young lad had been injured.
There will be no third time, since they have put a ban on pets and my little lady has to go where I go.
I love Greens - it is where I met my first group of Grey Nomads - some of whom we still meet up with, travel with, visit, and consider our good friends.
We came across a great camp site in Queensland called Mingo Crossing on the Burnett River which is in the north Burnett shire near the township of Gayndah.
Camped down on the water's edge with guy ropes almost in the water.
Very flat at water's edge.
Not a free bee but cost on the water $22 pn no power but power sites up the top with power. Great amenities and very friendly nice managers.
Just google it for more info.
Plenty of Red Claw, but no fish ( well not for me unless you want catfish)
As good as Green Lake with green grass well maintained.
