How do you attach pictures that are not upside down, you hit attach files button ,it directs you to your saved picture that are not upside down, then you tick your not upside down pictures you want to load, simple so far eh,then you hit the button to load the file works great but it's loaded the picture upside down, and on rare occasions the picture can come out ok.

Were the images taken with an iPhone or iPad?

I don't know about the iPad as I don't have one. I just use an ordinary instamatic camera and if I hold the camera the normal way "landscape" the photos come out right on here but if I've taken the photo with my camera turned sideways for a "portrait" shot even though it's the right way up in my files etc it comes out sideways here so maybe with the iPad something similar happens. Just a thought. I'm sure someone will come along with the proper answer. Cheers.

iPhone and iPad, you need to have the home button on the right when taking pictures.

I don't know Ron. It seems to be hit and miss for me as to which way my photos come out. But some nice person usually comes along and puts them the right way up. Not sure what magic they use. We are not the only ones.

Cheers, John.

rgren you might be right I did take those pictures with the button on the left I won't know for sure until I try it one day. the pictures also come out  oversized, maybe they need to be resized before loading?

Thanks for your replies Gayle and John..

It's not just the iPad, all those portable devices seem prone to it. You just have to experiment to see what is going wrong. rgren2 seems to have one problem solved. Another problem is that if you take landscape photos you must orient the device in landscape mode whilst posting - the posted photos seem to come out 90 degrees to normal if you hole the phone in portrait mode whilst posting.

Do some experimenting until you find out how to nobble the problem. Then ask Cindy to blow the thread away after you have solved your problem. Either that or fully document the posts each time so the thread is of value to others trying to solve their posting problems.

Digital cameras can embed all sorts of metadata in the image file. eg, date, camera model, GPS locations etc.
One that has been used for a long time especially by phones and tablets, is the orientation info provided by the devices internal sensors, ie, which way is up, also called auto-rotate.
Windows 8.1 and later on PCs reads this metadata and display your pics on your computer screen correctly, however this feature is not part of http standards so the web site will simple display the picture how it was taken, and that requires the home button on your phone or tablet to be on the right using landscape layout.

All good advice but it's probably more trouble than it's worth....
