Honda EU2200i

http://cdn.powerequipment.honda.com/...0817-(002).pdf Apears theres a slightly larger Honda inverter generator on the horizon to replace the EU2000i. This PDF file is obviously aimed at the American market. So will it come here eventualy.

Reading the fine print, it looks as though the new type generator will have a timing belt

I do like the idea of being able to switch the fuel off, to allow the engine to use up all the fuel in the carby bowl

As I have used my generator twice (from memory), in the last three years, I do not believe that the new one is for me

All the EU2000i Honda generators had a plastic timing belt.

Hi  smile

I see no connection between a "runout sale" and a model finishing biggrinbiggrinbiggrin just normal sales BS anytime !!

jaahn

PS Honda has been using timing belts inside their small engines for quite a while now. Some sort of oil resistant material, plastic ? or something that works OK.

Good to see its continuous output has been increase from 1600w to 1800w so the 200w increase in output isn't just a peak power thing. Hopefully the improved airflow will eliminate the over heating issues the E20i suffered where they would shut down due to over heat just when you really needed it to keep the roof top rattler running flat chat. Hopefully the extra 200w will start up the bigger roof top rattlers without the need for the very short and very heavy gauge lead, it was crazy that a 2000w inverter would run the Ibis 3 but a Honda E20i wouldn't unless you used the short cord.

Gday...

Piqued my interest ... has this been a common issue?

Anyone experienced this?

Cheers - John

Thanks for that info DeBe, it was something I was unaware of

My Honda EU 20i (after just looking up the net), apparently also has one

I could not find what the change interval was, either in running or calendar time

As I have not heard of them breaking, then I suppose mine will last until it breaks with old age

For anyone interested to see how the timing belt is replaced on the EU20i, there is a Youtube video here:

www.youtube.com/watch

I don't suggest pulling your generator apart if you don't have some small engine skills, looks complicated! :)
