Playground Equipment For Seniors

We've just seen a news item on TV that the government intends building playgrounds for ''old farts''.

Such a joy watching ''wrinklies'' busting their guts trying to use it.

This isn't a link to the news item that we saw but it does give you some idea what we can all ''look forward to''. laughing.giflaughing.gif

Exersize for any age is important.

I first saw this concept many years ago while in Hong Kong and thought at the time what a great idea.
I notice now that this equipment is in many council parks throughout Australia.

I could think of many other projects less deserving than this that governments will waste our hard earned taxes on.

Your post smacks of "lets get a reaction"
Well you got one from me.......

Yes, we totally agree that ''elderly folk'' need exercise.

For many years now we've power walked for an hour every day before breakfast as well bush walking extensively.

We won't be visiting the play equipment anytime soon though.

The news item that we saw made our age group look rather pathetic. It would have been a source of amusement to quite a few. Not that that worries us.

 Gday...

Speaking generally, if your use of the word pathetic for describing "our age group" is because the majority do very little exercise and spend too much time in sedentary pursuits, then I unfortunately believe that to be a sad but honest impression.

Retired folk all too often have little to fill their day and it is spent in sedentary pursuits as they age at a rate quicker than they would otherwise.

We have recently had all the new equipment installed in Council Park near us - I find it great as you can walk around the footway surrounding a small lake and stop off at each work station - never yet have I had to wait for the equipment, but I put that down to me being there when all the fit younger ones are at work or uni, plus there are no Coffee Bars in the area.
