my Victron regulator is connected to the battery with a very short cable run you will find pictures of it here in this section of the Webb site, on the very short cable run from the reg to the positive terminal I have attached a 15amp inline fuse whitch makes the short cable quite bulky, but the reg itself has a 20 amp fuse in it so I was wondering could I run the short cable directly onto the positive battery terminal without a fuse in it....
I feel uncomfortable Running an unfused wire from reg to battery but as the Victron has an internal fuse maybe this should be ok ? advise would be much appreciated....
Hi Ron
Always best to fuse as close as practical to the battery[ source][ Even if it is only a MAIN fuse]
VERY ,VERY FEW Van makers observe that practice, with the 12V fuse box often metres away
In your case if the cable is unlikely to be damaged & short out on anything [Earthed metal], but if you are in doubt perhaps give it some extra mechanical protection

Thanks oldtrack I put the inline fuse in it as well today so its double fused ,I phoned Victron today and they said as you have its best to put the inline fuse in it so all sorted....
