Fiat Ducato Battery Charging

The Fiat 3 litre has terminals under the bonnet to jump start the engine. I am wondering if a battery charger can be connected to these terminals or if they only go direct to the starter motor and are cut of from the battery by some switching device diode or similar ? Has anyone used these terminals for this?

If you can't trace the cables visually, put a meter across these terminals. If you can measure the same voltage as you do at the battery then those wires are connected to the battery. Put your battery charger on those terminals and if the voltage at the battery rises a bit after a short time then you will be charging the battery.

We had a 10w solar panel on the hump roof of our Fiat - directly to the Fiat battery - has its own regulator, we have never had to worry about a flat battery when we park up for long periods of time. Cost was about $250 from Springers in Brisbane.

Jules the MH is in a shed so solar not an option and we have been unable to get away for quite some time so starting to think of charging as short drives do not really charge a battery. However the question has been answered so will put on trickle charge
