Great day in sunny Tasmania standing at the 'Edge of the World'! Hoping there are some solo travellers over here to join in with? A bit tired of winning all the card games myself. Even the fish seem to have left for the mainland already! Say Hi if your over here, may even grab a bite to eat somewhere? Gwynnie
An interesting sight on the way to the Fair.... Only a few days ago I was heading up the Midland Highway from Hobart to Devonport to catch the Ferry back to the mainland.....The wind and rain were terrible, visibility almost down to only 5 metres when....suddenly the vehicle travelling in front of me slammed on his breaks and tried to a stop right in the middle of the highway! ....
Slowing down I watched in horror as his box trailer, now a loose cannon was heading up the road side-by-side with his tow vehicle. His trailer was keeping pace with his vehicle, so he could not move off the road!!! What a sight, it just about caused a six car pile up on the wet road as the vehicles travelling behind me also had trouble pulling up before they slammed into me!!!
Finally the wayward trailer headed off the road at a rate of knots, crashing straight through a farmers fence and just kept going finally coming to a stop in the mud ..... I can laugh about it now, but dare not think about the consequences had his trailer taken off to the right instead of the left. It would have headed uncontrollably straight into the oncoming traffic! (My bet is that the driver will take better care to hitch up the safety chain properly, before he heads off next time!)
