He can't be too bad, being married for 24 years. Which is longer than many of his Twitterati detractors have been alive and he doesn't have the drug problems and slackness where responsibilities are concerned of many of his youthful Left critics. He shows no intention of denying any of his responsibilities in the future. Including taking on a new partner and child.

What I would be more concerned about is any apparent encouragement of the now adult children of the first marriage towards 'no talks', sending him to Coventry or worse, parental alienation and vindictiveness.  Wasted lives.

I have never known anyone of my acquaintance who didn't intend for marriage to last forever. But not all coupling did last, including de facto, or the murky and complicated 'relationship' status invented by Julia Gillard's Labor government. Julia didn't believe in marriage, but she and her ministers were always on the front foot where dabbling in citizens' personal affairs was concerned.

Let those who are without fault throw throw the first stone. Concentrating on any lapses in lawful behaviour and there doesn't seem to be evidence of that.

Sorry, but there have been so many time-wasting political diversions and gamesmanship. The big issues never seem to get attention. What about water and Perth for one?

I'd love to see the politicians from both sides cross the federal Parliament to one side to jointly vote for better conditions for the aged who, from media reports and from the previous reports of the government's own auditor the Australian National Audit Office, are being treated so shabbily in aged 'care' (sic) homes.

Appropriate sad music for them, however the federal political parties are deaf,

The Australian PM gets paid more that the US President and a hell of a lot better than the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The last mentioned alone is responsible for a multiple of the population of Australia.

Federal politicians are treating the public as idiots: 'never you mind' and no public consultation on the big issues. It is all cakes and circuses. But they sure get paid well, they all love international travel and there are always those golden handshakes.

If there is anything unlawful the Parliament would be onto it like a shot.

Now, what about some attention to the big issues by the federal political parties and the media?

The name could be changed to Bob, Bill, Garath, Jim or Tony.  Why pick on Barnaby?

What was in the song that made it appropriate for Barnaby? I pity his kids. He could have protected them by resigning as soon as the story became front page.

Hi all,
I will close this now. We do not allow political discussions on this forum, as they inevitably lead to bad feelings. Thanks for your understanding.
