I have discovered, much to my dismay, I am now relativly "stupid" in my post accident and ageing life.
The icecream saga. Jumped in and ordered a new element before we left Ararat so it would arrive ready to install after we got home. What a mongrel of a job that turned out to be, only to find it is not working!! Checked the resistance of old and new element, the same. S**T!!! Checked voltage, none. I thought I had checked that at Ararat, well we know what thought thought don't we!!! After checking the 12 pin and Anderson plugs on the vehicle for 12v I pull the 12 pin van plug apart and the positive wire broken!!!! Buggar. Redid it more properly and redid the earth wire as well. Last year updating the fridge 12v I used the fridge AND Setec wires to the fridge. This doubled the Jayco wiring to the fridge. Also ran 6 B&S to DC to DC charger through Anderson plug. Now have a spare 12v element. All because of my poor diagnostic skills and very poor memory!!.
Next, the voltage drop running the fridge on 240v though the inverter!! I could not get a charge amount on the amp gauge from the tug through DC to DC. Checked wiring AND found I had not connected the DC to DC earth to the battery shunt
Welcome to the club Paul, best bet is to not walk through any doors while you are working on something, doorways make you forget where you are up to, and you have to then retrace your steps and start the process again. Landy
