LED LIGHT BAR

Morn'n all,

Just some info. I had two LED driving lights fitted to the front of my Collie and was very happy with them but last week a stone must have hit one and changed the look of it so much I had to replace. I couldn't just buy one and had to get two SO decided to change to a Light Bar. WOW! How good are these bad boys! The view at night is just as good as day time but no bright sun in ya eyes disbeliefno It is wired to high beam so comes on at that time but it can also be turned off and just high beam only.

Am I impressed or what! IMPRESSED biggrin VERY IMPRESSED biggrin

I fitted a 22 inch one. It doesn't seem to shine down the road any further than high beam, but the vision (light intensity) in that distance is unreal. It seems to spread out to the side of the car really well. You can see any critters on the side of the road a lot easier. Cheers Pete

Years ago, I bought a cheapie from Fleabay. It was advertised as a combination spot/flood light. When it was delivered, it was all flood light. The throw of light is awesome - it spreads from fence to fence and in hilly country (where we mainly do our nighttime travel) it is ideal for us. Distance is not that bad either but it won't pick up a roo at 500 m - probably 150 m at best would be the performance. If you are buying a lightbar, check if you want distance or spread and order accordingly.

They are really great Doug. Mine has 4 led's at either end that illuminate the side of the road. The only criticism I have of the light bar is that the intensity of the light reflects blindingly on roadside signs and they seem to be in your face. However the general throw and distance is outstanding. Cheers Ian

Thanks for the input everyone. It is a 23" bar and is a combo. The spot section goes a bit beyond the high beam but the both side flood views is amazing.

I have been trying to find a cover for it but they are like hens teeth. Maybe need to put the thinking cap on with that one.

You could try a plastics fabricators for your cover Dougwe. They might be able tp create one to clip on. Alternatively, many sell offcuts fairly cheap and you could have a crack yourself.

Just to top it off Chief, there is a bloody ' Collingwood" poster in today's Sun Herald. Not many feathers but. Can't be many days to go for the Mighty Demons one.

Yep flood lights are way better than spot lights . I did much the same but went to larger diameter units . We are not driving fast enough to need 300m vision .
