No cold water

Hi, i am on my 1st short trip in van. When i connect up to water in CP i get water when i turn handle to the left for hot water but get none when handle is in the cold water position. This is for both the sink and the shower. Is there some lever or switch i have missed somewhere. Thanks Ross

Iam no plumber but have you considered theres obviously a blockage on your cold water side of things ,follow your cold water pipe connections from where your hose hooks into the van and you might have to disconnect a few fittings as you go to find the blockage, thats just my guess, theres others here that might have a better idea, good luck ...

Thanks Ron, that is my guess and ill have a look at it when i get home. Just thought there might of been something very minor that i had over looked which often is the case. Ross

The tap in our shower goes right to left - right is OFF - and you sort of pull handle UP a bit to make water come through - might help - who knows!

Ross,

As you have hot water there is no problem with the initial supply.

Do you have more than one set of taps?
If yes, is it the same at all taps?
Do you have a tap on the drawbar? Does that work?

Let us know and we may be able to help more.

Robert

Re-read your post and realise you do have more than one set. Ignore that question.

Hi Wombat

Had exactly the same problem 2 weeks ago. When we purchased our van, the anode in the HWS had not been changed in a very long time. In fact, when I took the anode out, there was only 2 wires where the soft metal should have been. Despite cleaning the tank every time I change the anode, there is still some small particles getting through.

So when cold water stopped getting through to the bathroom sink, I knew exactly what the problem was. I pulled out the tap and sure enough, there was some of the small particles blocking the screen at the inlet on the base of the tap. I cleaned the particles from the tap, reattached the hoses and reinstalled the tap and I had cold water again.

I have decided to install a filter on the hose that exits the HWS, much easier to clean than pulling out taps.

Have fun

Hi, thanks for all the replies. When i got home i started with the easy options 1st.
It was similar to to Waytra's problem.I took off the top of the mixer on the taps, removed the cartridge and there was all the little calcium stones that were blocking up most of the outlet for the cold water. Did this to both the kitchen sink tap and shower tap, problem solved.

Great news - we sometimes have a bit of trouble with water - going to have a look when we have mains water.
