Getting a little tired of replacing these things, first the CFL's now these snow cone bulbs, they all claim a life of thousands of hours, in reality if I get 12 months out of one I'm doing well.
At anything from $8 to $30 they may be cheap to run but they are certainly not cheap to replace.
Wondering what experience others are having and what products are being used.

Yes agree Santa, we find they do not last as long as claimed. The price is charged because they can, like most retail things they charge what they think people will be prepared to pay.
Lett's go back to candles as i have heaps of wax in my ears.
Choice did a test on LED globes. Not all bulbs are the same. Membership is cheap and well worth it.
From the Choice comments I believe that heat affects life. The actual LEDs last but the complex circuitry to support may not. So IMHO it would help if the minimum wattage for practical comfort is used (less heat being generated in usually unsuitable fittings that may not be adequately vented) and if the globes are turned off when not needed, instead of leaving them on because the power usage is low.
Osram LED Star Classic A100 are the ones we use. Cheap and good.
Reduction Revolution [contact@reductionrevolution.com.au]. Bought some " candle type" 7 watt from these guys in 2016. Two blew within a few weeks. Both were replaced " As Warranty", no arguments no problems, no extra postage. Our last few bills have shown a reduction, so guess they help. Touch wood no more problems with the globes.
