Tyre pressures

More than likely been asked before, on an 18foot single axle van , what would the tyre pressures be,

Cowboy,

Depends on size of tyres and weight of van. I have approx 1600kg van with 195x14 tyres and recommended cold tyre pressure is 45psi. My compliance plate on the draw bar confirms this. I have sometimes increased that to 50psi prior to an extended holiday as we are usually fully loaded then. Others will probably mention the 5psi variation from cold to warm tyres after driving 50-100km. 45 is a good starting point.

Regards Robert

Depends on the specific tyres and what the van weighs.
More information required.
What is the load/pressure information printed on the tyre and what is the ACTUAL weight on the van wheels?

Cheers,
Peter

Gday...

confuse I would firstly check the actual tyre and see what is stamped on it as the MAX pressure cold.

I would also check to see what weight the tyre is rated at.

I very much doubt 60PSI would be a good pressure to have for an 18ft single axle van - even loaded to the gills.

I would be starting around the 45PSI and then seeing how that handled and wore.

To me, 60PSI would have the van bouncing all over the place ... including its contents. hmm

Cheers - John

What's on the plate is likely to be a MAX pressure.
Alternative would be to check with manufacturer (if they are still in existence).

Tyres themselves have a max pressure .. Often on the tyre itself ?

Gday...

In line with Peter's suggestion, this 'calculator' may assist in determining tyre pressures - even if it is a starting point.

 G`day Cowboy,

I have a similar van to yours. Tyres are 10 ply rated light truck tyres with maximum cold pressure of 80 psi. I run mine at 58 psi cold.

Cheers,.
