Hi

Does everyone that replied to my initial post see this post? I hope so.... Anyway...I'm not sure

about how Forums work....but happy for you to guide me!

 

I'd like to firstly thank you all so much for helping to give me the confidence to "start my life."

It certainly has been a process for me I must say. I've overthought everything, now I just Trust.

I've been shown all the "signs" that I need to do this trip and that in itself is going in my next book.

I will be moving out of my house on 16 June and moving into my van! I personally love caravans and

always had one when married. This one feels like home for me.

My possessions are almost packed and all that's left in my house is what I need to put into the van and

my furniture until moving day!

I'm starting to tick off a lot of boxes on my list!

Thank you all ~ If you can all read this I'm not sure, but I'd like to send you a heartfelt thank you for

being part of my process.

I wish you safe travels and a fabulous time making Memories!!

Yep, I can and so will others read this entry from you Marion so well done.

I know exactly how you feel as after three heart wrenching experiences I too asked the many questions you are and sure there are many others the same. I have now been on the road for nearly 7 years, the last 3+, full time and have never looked back.

Your van looks just what the doctor ordered (so to speak) looking at that pic so just enjoy every moment and never worry about being on your own as you will never get lonely and I tell you that for free.

This forum is the best around and mostly friendly people here, just a couple bite and you will soon work out those. All in all, a great place to hang out.

You have done well Maz but ohhhh that car I had a statesman in my younger days same model same colour , 308 V8 , boy I miss that car , I would love to have one again ,if ever you consider selling it let me know pleeeease .

Congratulation on the step as it is a hared one. It has been good to read both your post and replies. Think I will be joining this group this year as Wife has mental problems for the last 20 years and struggling to handle them this days and it is now affecting my heath. Wishing you the best on your new life and safe travels.

Good on you Marion,
You sound like you have the courage to get out and travel around and if you put that van away in the shed, then you have the ability to tow it around OZ.
Looking forward to meeting you in QLD. You will meet new and interesting people every place you stop and I can't see that broadening your horizons via vanning will do your writing anything but good.

Hi MazzyMoo,
I think your story has given me some inspiration & hope. I need to take a leaf from your book & get on with my life too. Husband & I been partners & married 31 years but feel it's time to move on. I love caravanning & always enjoy it so much, pity he doesn't have the same love to, I just don't have the confidence to hook up & drive off, I worry about the driving, reversing & set up but I'm sure I'd manage should I go ahead.
I have looked up driver training course that I will pursue soon hopefully, that will make me feel a whole lot better ?

hi mazz,
Good on you for getting out on your own. You will find your feet with towing, backing into a spot, hitching up, unhitching to go shopping and so forth
as long as you slow down and take your time when doing these things. Don't worry about who's watching, just do it slowly and you will wonder why
you were so concerned about it in the first place. It will become second nature to you after a few weeks of travel.

After a few trips around Australia, on my own, the best part of my travels were the free camp rest areas and meeting people who were so interesting and helpful.
Security was not a problem at rest areas because everyone watches out for all campers / caravaners alike. It's good especially around happy hour
around 4pm, (I like to be off the road at about 2 or 3pm) to make friends around the campfire with a couple of wines or beers and talk about the
things that we all love, eg. about our set ups, the places we've been, the places we're going to etc.

I was full time on the road for a couple of years until family stuff intervened but plan on getting out there again as soon as I can, go for it mazz
you won't be sorry.
