I have a projector battery charger with several battery settings,my battery is an AGM so iI have set it to AGM makes sense eh, but looking at another forum the gurus seem to think that an AGM battery in a caravan should be set to the GEL function any thoughts ?
Look up what your battery manufacturer recommends for the charging voltages. Then match that recommendation with the figures given in the charger handbook. Choose the switch setting that provides the closest voltage output.
Not all AGM batteries are equal. You will find the charging voltages required for Chinese batteries a bit higher then the Yankee ones. Different charger manufacturers also have different ideas of the charging requirements for different battery chemistry. You did not give us sufficient information for us to make any assessment for you. We don't know what battery or battery charger you have.

I think you should read that thread again, you will find that referred to a charger that only had two settings, flooded or gel.
And what were the output voltages of those two settings? Also does an AGM battery that has the higher or lower voltage requirements? Read my reply again.

My oh my, and I thought everyone got along well here except for me and Peter Oldtrack :lol: I'm guessing the Projecta charger is an IC model (Intelligent Charger) and has the voltage sensing leads inside the charging leads so it reads the voltage at the cable ends and not inside the charger. This is the first essential for accurate battery charging. the next is the IC range measure how long it takes for the battery to reach the end of boost voltage (the terminal voltage reaches 14.4v for AGM from memory) it then sets an absorb time based on how long it took it to reach the end of boost stage and holds that 14.4v until finally dropping into float stage.
These are very smart chargers and I'd say you can feel safe following the manufacturers recommendations. These recommendations include the max charging rate for the battery capacity as provided by the battery manufacturer, so 50 amps into a 100Ah battery would be well outside the manufacturers specs and would cause a wrong charging profile to be selected by the Projecta IC charger.
